Im a bit novice with modding, hopefully someone will see this and be able to answer, since this is a manual mod and doesn't use vortex, how to I install or use this properly?

Extract the files into your game directory, overwriting the game's original files. The folder names are all done for you, so all you need to do is copy the nativeDX11x64 folder from the mod over the top of the existing one at this location:\steamapps\common\Monster Hunter Stories 2
If you want to uninstall this later, delete the mo701, mo702, mo703, and mo710 folders in here:
\steamapps\common\Monster Hunter Stories 2\nativeDX11x64\archive\mod\moThen verify the integrity of the game's files in Steam in order to reacquire the vanilla files.

I'm not really sure how to simplify it further. It's more or less drag and drop to install, you only need to worry about making sure it goes in the right place.
The only outside requirement is software that unpacks files like .zip and .rar. 7zip is free.

The second half of the instructions are only for if you want to remove the mod later.

The nativeDX11x64 folder doesn't strictly need to be in the mod folder. That folder is in the game directory. Open it, and copy the folder labeled "archive" over the folder of the same name inside the existing nativeDX11x64 folder.

Otherwise, get Barebones NativePC Implementation and drop the archive folder from my mod into the nativePC folder.

I absolutely love this mod, it's beautifully done and adds so much more to the feel of the story! Ratha actually feels unique and interesting instead of just another Rathalos with a slightly altered wing pattern. I was so disappointed for that reveal, and this mod adds all the wonder lost right back to the game! Thank you!

      Thankyou!

I don't have any plans for other retextures at the moment, although I do have a personal edit to Ratha's corrupt state that turns his wings magenta to more closely match the way they look when they open prematurely after the rage-rayed Legiana battle, which I haven't released. Would that be something you'd want, even though it only affects specific story moments?

No, it doesn't. I don't know how to modify the effects.

So would this work on a switch if it's also modded?

I have no idea, and I have no way of testing it myself as my Switch isn't modded.

You're welcome to try, but I can't offer any support if it doesn't work.

Hello, after a couple days of investigation I managed to make this mod to almost work, so let me explain I had to investigate basically how to decrypt nintendo switch game files called .nca which allowed me to notice that there are some similarities with your mod and the game files like the path "archive/mod/mo/..." and so on, but there was a difference in the name of the folder nativeDX11x64 and discovered that in switch it was called nativeNXx64, pretty similar right? So after using a mod manager I managed to inject it in my switch game and that's where it failed to work since the game for some reason couldn't load ratha's model or textures which caused the game to crash so it makes me to thing that the files inside the .arc files are different from the switch version in some way so it crashes and since I don't know how to decrypt .arc files I'm at a dead point now, still it was fun doing all of this and learning from it and I think that I'm probably near to making this work if it wasn't for the .arc files thing, oh well I hope that this helps anyone figure this out someday.

It was worth a shot! I guess the formats are different between the Switch and PC releases, or something like that.

Yeah probably something like that, I'm still curious about trying to decrypt .arc files someway, but still don't know how to do it, mi intuition tells me that it can even be something simple like format extension differences or something, still it's nice that I managed to do affect the game in some way.

Ok ok ok I think I may have found the issue and is way simpler than I thought, so this mod is made for the 1.5.3 version of the game on steam right? I found out that the switch version is only up to the 1.5.2 version so that is probably what is causing the incompatibility for the mod, the thing is that there's no 1.5.3 update for the switch version yet so the solution would be somehow adapting the mod to the 1.5.2 version and see if it works, sorry if I'm being annoying with this it's just that finding out these kind of things is very exciting for me.

Gorgeous work! I was kind of disappointed when I saw that adult Ratha just looks the same as all the other Rathalos' do, considering how special he is. This is just how I hoped he'd look when I saw him as a baby! Thank you for sharing!

As a huge fanatic of Black and Blue color schemes, this speaks to me.
