   Can friends join this custom made quest?
   as long they meet the MR requirement?

      It should probably work. It worked for me and my friend when play testing.
      
      I won't deny the small chance of it being wonky, so I'd say it should work most of the time.

      ive tried this with a friend but it causes the game crashing on their end

      Well with that information, I'm assuming the issue is that they don't have the quest themselves in their files.
      In order for a quest to work, it is required that all players joining the quest have the quest themselves, and anyone who doesn't have the quest themselves will have their game crash when joining it, so I'd suggest you help them download the quest for themselves.

   Update v1.1 Notes:
   
   - Halved the HP of the Elder Trio "We Three Kings, Risen as One", they are now much easier to deal with than them having full normal HP
   - Adjusted the HP of Valstrax and Bazelgeuse in "Beware the Guren Bombardiers!"
   - Adjusted the HP of the Magalas in "Piercing Light from the Deep Dark"
   - Adjusted the damage of a certain monster in "Beware the Guren Bombardiers!"
   - A New Quest: "Master Hunter of Kamura & Elgado"  has been added
   - A New Optional File: "Oh Dear God, What have I created.zip"  adds the most bs quest in existence for those confident in their damage output
