I've got this mod installed, reframework, Fix for LayerAnyWeapon, as well as its two dependencies. Do I need to uninstall other layered mods in order for this one to work? Update: it works sometimes and I don't know why it does/does not work. Update 2: BypassLayerCheck.dll was installed in the root folder rather than the reframework plugins folder. The mod works as advertised now.
Glad to hear that it's working now. I'll add a callout about the install dir to the description, hopefully that saves other folks some pain going forward.
For completeness, you don't need Fix for LayerAnyWeapon's two optional dependencies, rather those're mods that require it. I'm not sure why they're linked like that, maybe in an attempt to address "this mod doesn't do anything"-style questions? Looks like it hasn't worked for them unfortunately.
so you have to forge a bunch of layered weapons to use this ? sound like vanilla layered with extra steps...i can just go with vanilla and re-equip the layer everytime i change the weapon, it takes like 3 seconds to do so.
It makes it so that layered weapons are no longer tied to the layered loadout (if you change to it at least once) so if you change loadout in the middle of a battle the layered appearance will also change.

Yup, that's accurate. Definitely not going to be an essential mod for everyone. There are some sets where the look is entirely built around a single weapon's appearance, in which case I prefer the vanilla system.
Due to the scenarios I mentioned in the overview (and lynnmarie's) this mod was essential for me though lol. Especially for swapping between weapon types, which the vanilla system simply wasn't built for. I have plenty of layered sets that I use with multiple weapons, and with vanilla I have to either re-equip my weapon skin each time or duplicate the layered equipment loadout for each weapon I use. With this mod those're no longer an issue.

(It'll look identical to a "real" layered weapon.)
