About this mod

More Interesting Multiplayer (MIM) - A Metroid Prime 2: Echoes multiplayer modification with the end goal of making multiplayer for MP2E a bit more interesting. Adding things such as AI and many single player only items into multiplayer, a slightly different take on one of your favorites!

This is one of the first ever real Metroid Prime 2: Echoes modifications, with my end goal being: let's make multiplayer for MP2E a bit more interesting! It's a bit bland normally, since all you can do is run around and kill eachother for points or coins. I started with Sidehopper Station, and I would like to think I have done 90% of what I wanted to in this map.

Space Pirates and Rezbits have taken over Sidehopper Station! There are new platforms to jump to, screw attack pickups to help with that, light/dark beam ammo scattered across the map, energy tank pickups, seeker launcher pickups, some miscellaneous crates, an echo visor pickup, and even a scan visor pickup for novelty's sake (it doesn't actually do anything). You will now spawn carrying all beams, but you have no ammo for balance's sake. I've also made all of the beam combos: Darkburst, Lightburst, and Sonic Boom available in Sidehopper, again only if you have the ammo/missiles to do them just like normal.

Some people might not be familiar with the patch format, xDelta. You can grab the patcher here:
https://www.romhacking.net/utilities/598/

Please note that this is a HUGE xDelta patch and it will likely freeze for a minute while patching. Don't freak out and end the task, it will resume and complete successfully!

Just point the patch field to my patch that you downloaded, and point the source file to your Metroid Prime 2: Echoes iso file. Note that your MP2E MUST BE in ISO format, not GCM; it must be a 1:1 copy, and it must be the US version, PAL or JP probably won't work. Your output file in xDelta can be named whatever you want, as long as the file extension is .iso.

I do plan to work on the rest of the multiplayer maps as well eventually, so watch for that and have fun!

I recommend Dolphin to play your ISOs!

Interested in modding Metroid Prime 1/2/3? Check out: Prime World Editor v1.2.3 (PWE) by Aruki

Quick Tutorial for making your own mods:

1: Open PWE, go to file, press Create Project

2: Using the popup window, navigate to your CLEAN UNMODDED Metroid Prime 1 or 2 USA version ISO or GCM and open it

3: Next PWE will ask for an output directory, you need to keep the directory structure fairly simple, I use the following: C:/PWE Projects/MP2E or C:/PWE Projects/MP1 for Prime 1

4: Let PWE finish making your project and open it up, then make sure to hit File, Save and save your .prj file with whatever name you want, preferably inside your output folder.

5: Make your mod and then save and cook it, pay attention to the .pak files that it builds, such as Metroid1.pak, Metroid6.pak, etc. Those are the ones you will need to compile your mod back into an ISO. After this process is finished close PWE so you don't get file access issues!

6: Use GC ISO Tool v7 to extract your Metroid Prime 1 or 2 iso/gcm file in GcReEx format (very important). Again, try to use a simple directory structure for where you extract this, as it seems to have problems with the files being in a bunch of sub-directories. Example: C:/PWE Projects/Metroid Prime 2 Echoes [G2ME01] or C:/PWE Projects/Metroid Prime [GM8E01] for Prime 1.

7: Go to your project folder (MP2E or MP1), and go into the Disc folder inside it, you will see a bunch of .pak files, find the one you rebuilt with PWE and copy them into the root folder inside the folder created by GC ISO Tool in step 6 (obviously overwrite the one already in there). For my mod, it was Metroid6.pak.

8: In GC ISO Tool, press File-Open Folder and navigate to your now modified extracted files in: C:/PWE Projects/Metroid Prime 2 Echoes [G2ME01]

9: Press File-Save ISO-Trimmed, save it wherever you like but it will be named automatically. Changing the name won't do anything.

These ISOs work just fine in the latest build of Dolphin, I can confirm that. As for whether they would run on a real Gamecube or on the WII (they do, I bought a Wii), I'm not positive but I can't see why not.

Cheers!
