Sorry if I missed what I'm about to ask in your mod discription, what HDR settings in the user.cfg did you change and what values did you settle on? I'm playing enhanced edition and for whatever reason this vanilla HDR looks really really bad. Currently using Geforce Experience filter to make it tolerable but I'd like to see if I could address the source of the issue.
i only entered raytrace_cull 2 and my fps pretty much doubled! What sorcery is this? (rather, does it disable RT or something? Do enlighten me. Thank you!)
as far as I can tell, you can set that value to 0,1 or 2, 2 seems to be the lowest value. I set the values for what was the smoothest on my hardware without using any frame synching software and I'm using AMD hardware so I didnt want to talk for nVidia owners on what they could expect from those values.
Plus, you could also changing 'ph_dbg_render_range' to 90 or lower if you are on nVidia hardware. The POV can also be lowered for more FPS as well as 'mouse_curve_coef' to 0. these values give good raw fps but it was very choppy for me but this could easily be fixed by turning on freesync or vsync.
Most of the values I chose for a balance between how it looks, how stutter free/tear free it was and the lighting.
you may find other speed ups, if you can use this config as a start point, fantasic
Sorry, you didn't miss anything... You need to find where your config file is stored which depends on what version you have... GOG, Steam or Epic, This can be found easily on google. Once you've found the user.cfg file directory location, make a backup of your original user.cfg file, copy my user.cfg over, rename it to user.cfg and thats it
The other thing you'll want is reshade: Find the latest version here: https://reshade.me/
Here's a very good tutorial on how to install it and how to install presets: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-install-reshade-pc-games

In the enhanced version vanilla cfg we have
r_exposure_hdr 2
r_hdr 1
r_hdr_max_luminance 1000
r_hdr_white_paper 200
If you find the time, could you tell me what you settled on changing these values to for the version your playing?
EDIT: ReShade 4.1.1 did not work for me, as I would get the "SPECS BELLOW MINIMAL" error warning. Using ReShade 4.9.1 instead fixed that issue for me.
