You are right. Wa can see Snake attaching it to the choppers floor railing during its take off and gaining altitude phase when he sits next to the mini gun. He detaches it when he gets inside the chopper. Its for safety reasons and also a nice realistic touch. Mod creator should include some animations of snake falling out of the chopper due to not following safety regulations.
Hey while youre at it, can you also please remove the giant dong on the back of every character with the sneaking suit, once i saw it, it cant be unseen, thank you
