Hey guys. Sorry, but I am not currently working on this or any of my Metal Gear Solid mods.
IRL the company I work for was bought out by a multinational corporation so my time is extremely limited. To make matters worse I finished MGS V and I was completely dissatisfied with both the "endings". Great game in my opinion but it has a TERRIBLE campaign and a dumb ending (your opinions may differ). I am doing a little modding on the side, but not for this game. Once Fallout 4 comes out I will be off messing with that. Then the holidays and so forth.
So that's a long winded way of saying "this mod will likely not be updated for a long time"
If anyone wants to update the most current LUA files for MGS V I would not only be eternally grateful and add them to the downloads, but more importantly I would be happy to give you full credit for updating the mod and keeping it alive.
Thanks so much and hope you guys are enjoying the game still.
Thank you for this excellent mod, jvarnes. However I have a problem. As the mod does not work with the latest update I have been playing MGSV via Steam in offline mode. I've just tried to play today and Steam is refusing to start MGSV unless I go online - but if I go online and start the game it will update MGSV and I won't be able to use your mod! Can anyone help? How do I stop MGSV updating on Steam?
This mod still works (as of Dec 8th) you just need to follow the readme. I think previously you just replaced the whole 00.dat file, now you manually make the edits. But takes like 10 minutes, don't let that stop you from a great improvement on this game!
Just confirming this mod does indeed still work as of 1-5-16 (v1.0.7.0) [thanks Cronstintein!].
I finished the single player campaign back in November on PS4 and just bought the Steam version for a replay on my new PC to enjoy it @ 4k with max settings/Sweetfx. Anyhow, I remembered how trivial combat felt after about level 20 so I had my fingers crossed this mod would work. I can confirm that it indeed does (as far as I can tell anyway - game seems to play just fine).
So for anyone still (re)playing the single player campaign who might have shied away after the update, give it a shot! Just do as Cronstintein mentions and follow the read-me (back up save, dat, etc. to be safe). BTW I used the QAR version so I can't confirm if the Snakebite version works or not.
Hey there, this question has been asked a few times before but i cannot seem to get the answer: how did you make it work manually? I've got the latest patch version from steam and a QAR tool that came with a different mod called afghan weather. I've looked around and figured out how to follow the instructions from readme files exactly but no luck. the game starts and runs as usual as if it didn't see any changes at all. Since you seem to be the only person who got it to work as of january on this blog, would you please be so kind and let me know exactly how you did it? Here's what I'd done: I disconnected steam cloud and auto updating (I already have the newest patch), then disconnected wifi and started steam in offline. I've downloaded and installed the hardcore v4 as per attached readme instructions (QARed 00.dat copied mod files replacing two folders, added requested lines through notepad++, repacked 00.dat by dragging 00.inf onto QAR). then same for hardcore v5 as per attached readme instructions (simply replaced the 01.dat) game runs with no changes, business as usual.
Any help will be much appreciated, this seems to be the most important mod for MGSPP and yet it's obviously quite difficult getting it right.
Dude, when installing this mod through snakebite, an error pops up that the mod was created on an earlier version of snakebite and that the mod needs to be updated. I tried almost many versions of snakebite, including the earliest version from 2016, but the result is still the same, unfortunately.

hello, is there any possibility to make the mod without reducing ammo amount? i mean ammo like C4, magazines and other weapons with unlimited uses can stay the same... i would be very gratefull

sad to hear that. You made an (overall) great game even greater.
Thanks for your work!

For people playing the cracked version (as I have an original steam version but don't want to mess up my FOB game and future online functions)
00.dat files are found in the data1.dat file.
when adding the text to a notepad++ file just change every 00 into data1 and your game works like a charm
I am now in singleplayer heaven!
I no longer feel like rambo-snake taking on 20+ dudes single-handed with no concern.
100% endorse
(I was originally playing with markers up but no reflex. Now I'm playing with this mod and reflex but no markers. Good times!
