I don't want to sound unappreciative of the work already accomplished (because both of these are amazing! ), but it would be really cool if you guys collaborated to make even more pallet swaps for this suit, Like black/orange and black/grey and whatnot.
you know what is the next best thing though? to re-texture it fully with camo patterns! so far I have not been able to locate the chest texture file to remove that scar! it's making me go mad >
Can you show us a process of your work of The Boss Sneaking Suit with camo and color, with a picture? That be cool!
Anyways i feel like i wanted to do the work on retexture on The Boss Sneaking Suit, along with camo and color, so can i do any work? Any requirements to how to do retexture on it? Any advice? Is it possible to make "The Boss Sneaking Suit" 4K resolution or is it impossible?
Taking in consideration that the mod author is offline or haven't entered in nexus in a long time I would say publish the mod and give him credit for doing it.
in which folder belongs to the mod... I tried already several times is somehow not
And then another question, can be played from the beginning of the game with a female... because the mod DD soldiers in cutscenes - emergency COMPATIBLE WITH UPDATE somehow does not work... Please help. downloaded but the tools (all)
as for the 2nd part of your question; i do not know really; it may not be compatible with the mods you already have installed. i am sorry i cannot help.
when you drag the "d8c75b2c66d4.ptfxs" file over the GzsTool, it extracts the file by creating a folder called "d8c75b2c66d4_pftxs" and an xml file called "d8c75b2c66d4.xml"
so you need to replace those files in that folder.
I did have a xml ones, but i don't have folder ones, due to GzsTool has stopped working, as i did what you said before, drag the "d8c75b2c66d4.ptfxs" file over the GzsTool.
Here the pic of what causing it: http://i.imgur.com/4jz9Pwv.png
or can you share the modded d8c75b2c66d4.ptfx folder?or modded 01 and 00.dat files?
okay so first of all i can see that your GzsTool is outdated! I am using the 0.5.2 version; so i think you should first update to the latest version. if that does not help then you better start over the process by using copies of your backup files (00.dat & 01.dat) and do the installation process step by step.
uploading the 00.dat & 01.dat files is difficult for me due to the large size (300mb) but ill upload my pftxs file if possible.
i must have done something wrong cause my suit is still white. On step 3, when you say extract the d8c75b2c66d4.pftxs file that is inside the 00 folder, where exactly do you extract it to? or with?
well you need to extract that file for two reasons; you need to get the .ftex & .1.ftexs files from it; it does not really matter where you extract it; you do it to get those files; extract with GzsTool.
after you edit those files (which i have already done so you skip this part) you put back the .ftex & .1.ftexs files back into it (after you extract the file you have an xml file and folder with the same name as the file right? you put the .ftex and .1.ftexs files into the folder (replace) and then you use the GzsTool to compress the xml file and the folder back into a ptfx file by simply dragging the xml file over the GzsTool.exe).
then you put the ptfx file back in to 00 folder (replace) which was created by extracting the 00.dat file ; compress the 00.inf and 00 folder into a 00.dat file again by using QAR tool (dragging the 00.inf file over the QAR tool exe file.
I hate to ask, but how do I edit .ftex files? The Ftextool only exports dds that photoshop and gimp cant read, not to mention, it cant reconvert them back to ftexs. I've tried everything and it still wont work.
I don't think I stated it correctly. I HAVE photoshop and its dds plugin. They can open other dds files, I know this because I commonly use it for Fallout New Vegas mods. The dds files that get converted from ftex format just don't work. I'm quite sure why.
i am surprised by your statement. the dds files that i get from ftextool open just fine with photoshop on my system!
if you receive an error message saying that dds file cannot be opened due to a disk error, it is probably because at the time of extracting not all of the .ftex .1.ftexs .2.ftexs & .3.ftexs were available. you need to put them all together in the same folder.
if you are receiving a different error then i'm afraid i cannot be of help to you.
I feel so silly. I had no idea I required the other files to be present. I just assumed they were normals or glow-maps. You are my savior. Kudos to you, dear nimaatashi.
I have been using the -f 3 command, but it doesn't seem to work. Could it have something to do with the edited texture's format? I'm using gimp due to my Photoshop trial being wiggy.
More problems, yaaaaaaaaaay! I can no longer convert .dd's at all. They just crash the program no matter how I format them. This is hell for me.
EDIT: I figured out how to get the textures into the game and they have correct colors and work right, however if viewed from a distance they seem to be a gradient from the original (far) to the edited (close). This is by far the most confusing thing I've seen in a long time.
hmmm; i have to say i have no idea what could be causing the problems for you. why dont you share with me whatever it is you're trying to do & ill try to see if i can do it myself...maybe then i can help you out...
No, you've definitely helped me out a lot! I just cant figure out what could be causing these textures to revert to the default textures from a distance. Is there two sets of textures?
there could be! check for different resolutions of the same textures; like 2048x2048, 1024x1024, 512x512, 256x256 i remember something like that happened to me; once i was modding Tomb Raider 8, i modded one the Lara's suits but it would go back to the original colors when viewed from certain angles!!!
I'm having trouble with finding other textures. How do I know which one is which? I only know the locations of the files I edited by looking at a small list of textures (hand of Jehuty, woodland, squares, and wetwork camo). All the files just show up as a mass of numbers.

Any chance of doing this for the standard version of the sneaking suit?
It appearantly uses different texture names than the naked version.

Yes, please. :) A SnakeBite version would be excellent.
Edit: I found this as a good alternative: https://www.nexusmods.com/metalgearsolidvtpp/mods/306
Any fix?
thank you for pointing out this mistake; and sorry again.
Sorry, I just can't wait for that! xD
01- make back ups of the 00.dat and 01.dat files in the MGS_TPP\master\0 folder
02- extract the mentioned dat files using MGSV_QAR_Tool (simply drag over)
03- extract the d8c75b2c66d4.pftxs file which is inside the "00" folder created by extracting 00.dat file
04- replace all the .ftex & .1.ftexs files from the mod into d8c75b2c66d4_pftxs folder created by extracting the ptfxs file
05- replace all the .2.ftexs & .3.ftexs files from the mod into "01" folder created by extracting 01.dat file
06- create new d8c75b2c66d4.ptfx file by dragin d8c75b2c66d4.xml over the GzsTool
07- replace the newly created d8c75b2c66d4.ptfx file in the "00" folder
08- create new 00.dat & 01.dat files by dragin 00.inf & 01.inf over the GzsTool
09- replace the newly created 00.dat & 01.dat files into MGS_TPP\master\0 folder

Can i make request? If so, can you make it same but closed ones?
Hopefully there are more camos and colors (like olive green, tan, etc) for The Boss sneaking suit out coming soon!
after you edit those files (which i have already done so you skip this part) you put back the .ftex & .1.ftexs files back into it (after you extract the file you have an xml file and folder with the same name as the file right? you put the .ftex and .1.ftexs files into the folder (replace) and then you use the GzsTool to compress the xml file and the folder back into a ptfx file by simply dragging the xml file over the GzsTool.exe).

Any input, guys?

to correctly convert them you should use: FtexTool.exe -f 3 edited_texture.dds
that command gives you all the required ftex files (ftex, .1.ftexs, .2.ftexs, .3.ftexs) files for your mod to work. you should replace them all.
let me know if it helps.
