This mod has been discontinued for a long time. The most up to date version is Jupiter. There will be another gun sound mod in the future. But for now this, and Jupiter are the only options by me. Neither will be updated any more for the time being and this one is done for good.

Pirated copies do not support mods. Not because of a judgement but because it doesn't work on a technical level. I apologize but I can't help.

Love this mod ya did, the sound effects give weapons a good kick to them now, now out of curiosity, do you plan on making other Sound Overhaul mods in the future?

The two versions dont contain .mgsv files. I cannot use it.
also i am on linux so i cannot make the files provided into a mod myself.

Yeah I dont know why its reporting files that aren't there. I tried all the versions and they just give Me a .rar file and when i extract it i get the raw assets inside, no .mgsv file.
I have several other mods that never had this issue, so your mod has some sort of corruption going on.

I literally reinstalled it from this page no issue. It spit out the .mgsv for both. Either way this mod is not getting updated anymore since it is outdated. I recommend using my latest sound mod - Jupiter

sounds more like your download has a problem converting .mgsv into .rar, if anything u can just change the .rar back into .mgsv and itll work just fine

Awesome work, I'd like to see a classic sound replacement mod that would replace basic sounds with sounds from OG metal gear games!

I just made a really detailed guide on how to create custom sound mods, check it out, it's easy when it's laid out for you: https://metalgearmodding.fandom.com/wiki/How_to_add_custom_sounds_to_MGSV_The_Phantom_Pain

I do not usually mod.. Not that I am against it, just takes learning new things, and most games I want to mod, require a mod launcher. Not the biggest fan of downloading all that, then mods (wish more just worked through Vortex).

Point is, when I saw what this mod did, I shot a few more shots in the base game, came back here, watched the Youtube vids and then proceeded to learn how to mod MGSV. Love this mod, and easily endorsed. Just finished my play session today and I cannot go back lol!

Thank you! I'll be watching for any updates!

Shotguns sound same as pistols. Any reason why?

On my game, the shotguns and pistols sound completely different, maybe you should reinstall the mod?

Thanks for enjoying the mod! I wanted to make the gunshots really pop and be loud, but the game isn't really designed for it with the limited ways audio can be modified. Things like tinnitus effects, echo, and so on give the illusion of power in lots of games but many of these are absent in TPP, and the audio modification system that applies to sounds is lackluster.

I had some versions when I was prototyping the sounds where it was all pushed to be louder but it turned into a muddled mess of sounds with none of them sounding unique or distinguishable. Gunfights especially turned into just being annoying more than anything.

I'd be interested in a version where the sounds are louder too, I don't mind them being muddled or not sounding as unique.

so here's the problem with that-  you can't *really* adjust the volume of these sounds. If I turn up the volume in my sound mixing program it doesn't make it louder in game. There are calculations and factors the game does on it's own to calculate volume since the sounds are stereo as opposed to mono.

Hypothetically one *could* convert the sounds to mono, but that would create huge dip in quality and you would lose many effects that make the gunshots sound "right". Such as echoing and so on.

When I first tried making this mod I left the sounds as mono but my god, it sounded awful and jarring. It was like someone edited sound effects over my playing and didn't mix it at all. Trust me when I say it's not worth it.
