For those with issues with Snakebite, try the following:
Confirm that you are running the most up-to-date version of the game.
Try Installing Microsoft .Net 4.6.1: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49981
If you have a warning about permissions try right clicking Snakebites shortcut and choosing Run as administrator, or try reinstalling Snakebite to a different folder than it's default. It's also possible that Antivirus software, such as Avast and Norton Security, may flag SnakeBite as a false-positive. Confirm that your preferred Antivirus software is not quarantining, or otherwise hindering, SnakeBite Installation or mod management.
If you are receiving an error during setup that mentions "Windows Platform FIPS validated cryptographic algorithms", try disabling FIPS in the Group Policy Editor: https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/209e25be-0925-484e-ac10-736823e2b9f3/fips-issues-in-windows-net-and-visual-studio?forum=msbuild
If Disabling FIPS in the Group Policy Editor did not resolve the error, set the option to "Disabled" and open the Command Prompt as an admin. In the command prompt, enter the following: FOR %F IN ("%SystemRoot%\servicing\Packages\Microsoft-Windows-GroupPolicy-ClientTools-Package~*.mum") DO (DISM /Online /NoRestart /Add-Package:"%F")
In rare instances, Snakebite may encounter an internal error that it can't fix automatically. The best solution is to hit Restore Backup Game Files in the snakebite settings and then reinstall Snakebite. If you don't have backup files, you will need to revalidate your game through steam.
If you ever need to recover your game's vanilla files, here are some simple instructions for validating your game files through Steam:
1. Open Steam 2. In your games library, Right click on METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN and open Properties 3. In the Properties Menu, select the LOCAL FILES tab 4. Click "VERIFIY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES..." 5. Wait for Steam to verify and, if necessary, redownload any game files
Once revalidation is completed, Install and Run SnakeBite.
Snakebite prints information to log.txt in snakebites install folder. You can open these logs by clicking "Open Logs" in the snakebite settings. Check this before you close snakebite to see if there's any error messages.
If you have found an issue with SnakeBite, and you cannot resolve it after trying everything in the sticky post above, please report the bug with as much information as you can gather! Be sure to include the relevant debug log in the report, and do your best to explain how to reproduce the issue. Also, always search through the existing bug reports to make sure that your issue hasn't already been created. If the bug has been reported by another user, add your information to that bug report instead
In your Steam Library, right-click on MGSV:TPP, click "Properties..." click on the "UPDATES" tab and change "Automatic updates" to "Only update this game when I launch it."
Uninstall SnakeBite from your game by going to its "Settings" menu and clicking on the "Restore Backup Game Files" will restore your game to its vanilla, pre-SnakeBite state.
Only then can you allow Steam to download the update, and when it's done, you can launch SnakeBite and reinstall it into the game, and install all your mods back through it.
IF THE STEAM UPDATE HAS ALREADY OVERWRITTEN THE GAME FILES:
Remove <Steam Directory>/steamapps/common/MGS_TPP/snakebite.xml, /master/chunk0.dat, /master/a_chunk7.dat, /master/a_texture7.dat, /master/0/00.dat, /master/0/01.dat, and any of their backups.
Let Steam revalidate the game files. Make sure the vanilla game runs with no issues.
hahahaahhaahh the stupidity of these mods is limitless. they depend on users to support their work but they prevent snake bite from working on pirated versions ahahahaahhaha. (sorry for the bad English. I'm Spanish and I don't speak English)
??? I feel like I must be misunderstanding because what it seems like you're saying is so audacious/petty/smooth-brained that it HAS to be a translation issue. If so--if I *am* misunderstanding--then my apologies.
...But if you are actually talking s#*! on the people who create these mods for *free* and calling them "[limitlessly stupid]" just because these (free) mods are incompatible with your *pirated* version of the game, then please feel free to alleviate the gene pool of your particular brand of neurodivergence at your earliest convenience.
The funny part about all of this is that he probably didn't even understand the message that you sent because of all the big worded (for a non native english speaker) insults you threw at him lmfaooo. Dude literally pirated a game and expects mods that aren't optimized for said pirated version to work.
its a great mod but it just will not uninstall mods at all requiring a full on reinstall if i dont want to use a specific mod any longer. was trying to uninstall infinite haven and let it sit for 2 hours and it still was not working
I can't access main menu during missions (to return to title menu or change graphics options, for instance) if I launch the game through this mod manager, I would appreciate help.
Alright look i just installed the game from dodi but when i try to install snakebite it says your game is already modded and it doesn't let me install snakebite
im having trouble with Makebite... when i go to find my file to convert to .MGSV file i get an error and am unable to proceed. im on a steamdeck. everything else works perfectly except Makebite. please help.
To use Snakebite with Linux-Steam you will need an application called Protontricks. Download, build, and install it per your distribution. (You can NOT use standard Winetricks).
1. Open ProtonTricks and select the Proton runner for MGSV The Phantom Pain.
2. Install Snakebite Mod Manager with the Install an Application function.
3. Execute "Select a default wineprefix" and choose "Run Explorer" to open the Wine Explorer UI.
4. Double click Snakebite's shortcut and the application should open.
5. Now navigate to your MGSV_TPP folder in Steam. If you installed to a secondary drive it might be under /run/media. (You will have to do this every time you run Snakebite itself).
6. Install your mods as normal.
Now the game should open as normal under Steam with proton with the mods installed.
For any one using Protontricks, make sure you run Wine cfg., go to drives and tick show dot files or you won't be able to find the file path to the game.
hey my version of snakebite is about 2 years old. I want to update it to the latest version but im a bit concerned about doing so as i've heard some people having trouble when they've updated to the latest version. What is the correct way to do so?
