I originally made a version of this mod for the fine folks over at the Modder's Heaven discord to show my appreciation for the wonderful and friendly community over there and thought I'd share it as a Modder's Resource for the Nexusmods community.
I've included a working example as per the screenshots and have included the following source files for modders: - Original GIMP XCF project with named layers. - Exported DDS file. - Converted Ftex + ftexs files. - Original screenshots used. - Copy of FtexTool (Credits to Atvaark.)
Instructions for use:
1. Unzip the downloaded file and go into the directory "Nexus Modder's Resource\Nexus" and open up the XCF file in GIMP. 2. Delete all image/text layers except for the Main Surface layer. Keep the 3 blank layers "BossEye2, BossDog and BigFace" too. 3. Cut and paste your desired images to all 3 layers using the following dimensions: "BigFace": 710 width x 1024 height "BossEye2": 311 width x 457 height "BossDog": 313 width x 418 height 4. Once you're happy, flatten all layers and export the file as a .dds (remove the _Nexus bit and just keep the numbers/letter name!) using DXT1 and generate MipMaps option. 5. Drag your new dds over Ftextool to create the ftexs files. 6. Unzip my MGSV file and paste the ftexs files into the Assets\, overwriting the existing ones. 7. Repack with Makebite and install! 8. Enjoy! :D
