About this mod

This tool is designed to streamline the process of adding custom music by read the user's input of track information, renaming their WEM files to proper file names, and editing a number of files in the data_02.g0s file to add the tracks into a custom album.

Permissions and credits
For starters, you'll still need to convert your tracks to WEM format. Please refer to this Music file conversion Guide for help.
This tool is admittedly poorly designed, and If you're having problems check the Known Issues down below. don't hesitate to contact me if you need more help.

For steps 1 and 2, follow the Music file conversion Guide
(1) convert your mp3's to WAVs using AUDACITY
(2) convert your WAVs to WEMs using AUDIOKINETIC WWISE
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3) copy/paste your Data02 into the GzsTools Folder.
4) Unpack the Data02 file (drag and drop it onto the GzsTool.exe
5) Copy/paste your MP3 files to MP3 folder, copy/paste your WEM files into the WEM folder.
6) Run the CustomMusicTool.exe
7) repack the Data02 folder (drag and drop the xml file onto GzsTool.exe)
8) Use the modified Data02 to replace the original Data02.

This process requires:
Audacity
AudioKinetic Wwise (2014 versions)
Java

KNOWN ISSUES (from most common to least common):

  • Make sure to download a 2014 version of AudioKinetic WWise. Newer versions of the application use a different version of Vorbis Quality High, which won't work in MGS:GZ.
  • If the walkman has the tracks, but when you click them, they don't play: The most likely reason for this is because the WEM conversion process failed. most likely because the WWISE conversion wasn't set to Vorbis Quality High.

  • If, when you open custommusictool.exe, and the command window flashes on the screen, your Java version is not compatible. Click the above link to download and install Java.

  • The tool has a problem with particular ascii characters. Parenthesis and things like 'Æ' in particular. Rename these mp3 (right-click, properties, song title) and WEM files to remove the ascii characters.

  • While this tool only supports spanish and english, other languages will partially work as well. Tracks won't have names, but they can be selected on the walkman.

  • If you're having trouble repacking - if there's something in the first few rows of the error that says "e20010" or something of that sort, make sure you have both dictionaries in the GZ Tool folder, fpk_dictionary and gzs_dictionary.
