Just to let you know, there's a consistent hanging issue seemingly originating from liqMix' AI Slop mod. When slitting a guard's throat while having them in a CQC hold. the game will (in most cases) lock up, or rather drop to <1 fps while in gameplay. Pausing or using the Codec will - after a delay in getting the menu open - work as they should, but once you get back to gameplay, the game will start freezing again. At least that was the case when doing it on the first guard in Dolinovodno.
It is not related to your upscaled files, as the issue can't be replicated while only your mod is active. If I had to guess, it might be related to the amount of blood that's on screen when slitting throats not working well with the massively increased texture sizes [I used 4x].
Experiencing stuck loading screen when entering places such as groznyj grad weapons lab east wing and graininy gorky lab 1f. had to disable all mods play through 1f with no mods although other levels worked with mods for graniny just not 1f. It seems like the AI Slop mod is making the game crash or get stuck on the transitions, so turning it off enables it to transition to the level. Could it be because the AI mod is outdated? Works on almost every level, but on certain doors it gets stuck. Using 4x btw. volgins boss fight cutscene evas cutscene under waterfall also black screens.
that's unfortunately a random bug with the vanilla game, i've had ps5 folks report the same issue to me as well.
are your internal resolution & internal upscaling settings in the game's launcher set to default/original? i've had folks report that changing them around resolve the crash
Yes. Upscaled Textures (AI Slop Edition) is the base mod. This is a patch for it to make it compatible with the latest version since the original author hasn't updated their mod in a long time & konami has changed a bunch of stuff since it originally came out.
Thanks! For anyone else who had "No Paint over Infinity Face Paint" mod broken after installing the upscaled textures and this patch, just extract the "No Paint over Infinity Face Paint" mod again into "Steam\steamapps\common\MGS3\textures\flatlist\ovr_stm\_win"
Hey, Afevis, I'm using your mods collection AI upscaled, but I'm confused about this mod because it said temporary. I'm on the latest version of Metal Gear Solid 3. Should I install this?
yes this mod is still needed, it was originally meant as a temporary update to the AI slop / upscaled mod till the maker got around to updating their upload, but they never did.
also as a heads up if you're using one of my collections, you should let vortex itself handle installing everything - the pack moves around a ton of files so they're in the proper locations (since MGS2 & MGS3 have a full on folder load-order priority system) - which you'll need to figure out on your own if you do it manually. :>
Hey, Afevis. Do you happen to know why the Tiger Stripe uniform is not upscaled? I thought maybe the original author chose to leave it vanilla because the AI had completely botched it, but Desert Tiger, for example, has a similar pattern and the upscaled version of it looks good. Also, the Tiger Stripe patterned pants on the 'Naked' option seem to have been upscaled and it looks fine. I'm asking you because it doesn't seem like the original author of the mod is around and it seems like you have experience in this sort of thing. Thank you!
Just checked - it is actually upscaled, Bluepoint just fucked up and left the base texture really pixelated as hell. Feel free to report it to Konami so they fix it officially. ♥
Ah, I see. Thanks for the info! Quite a bizarre oversight on Bluepoint's part, as Tiger Stripe is considered canon for the most part. Also, I just finished the game and apart from the aforementioned 'Naked' camo, I noticed that the uniform (top and bottom) is also upscaled in the 'fireplace' cutscene (while Snake's face is somewhat lower quality). It looks great. The texture definitely seems to be in the files, but only for those particular instances. I wonder if it's possible to replace the crusty in-game texture with the proper one with relative ease.
I don't even know what to say. I thought this would be a royal pain to pull off, because I don't have any experience with textures (otherwise I would have gladly done it myself without bothering others), but man alive, not even 6 hours later and you have a fix. Thank you so much, man. The reason I'm so meticulous about these things is because I'm recording cutscenes for potential future projects and this Tiger Stripe fix is major! If I do end up uploading some videos, you don't mind if I credit you in the description for all your work, do you? Also, please let me know if you want me to report any 'visual bugs' on textures that I think might be fixable, as it looks like I will be recording these once again with the updated uniform. I have spotted at least one so far in my previous run, but it's nothing major. Just wanted to check with you, so I'm not pestering you with the minutiae that you're not interested in. Once again, massive thanks for this!
Hey, Afevis. Great job on your mods, man. Highly appreciate it. Just saw the cigar one from yesterday as well.
Could you please let me know if this mod is supposed to fix Snake's low-res face at the end of the game? I added this over the original AI SLOP textures and there's no change. Thank you!
Konami's fixed that issue officially with patch 1.5.1, I haven't updated this mod for that patch yet though since I was in the middle of immigrating when it came out. Will get it updated later today or tomorrow to fix it. :)
Wow, thanks a lot! If I understand correctly, the quality of the updated version should then be on par with the AI SLOP textures, right? Sorry if the question is silly, but the whole situation with textures is a bit confusing, as even with the AI SLOP mod, certain textures almost seem untouched, such as Ocelot's face (ears) and whatnot. But either way, the game looks phenomenal with mods, and any and all effort on you guys' part is much appreciated!
AI Slop only upscales the original 1.0.1 textures, many things have been fixed officially by Konami since then - which this mod then upscales as the patches are released. That said, not EVERYTHING has been fixed by Konami yet, most of the remaining things are already fixed by mods (ie my Ocelot face fix mod - https://www.nexusmods.com/metalgearsolid3mc/mods/96?tab=files ) which are all supplementary to the AI Slop mods.
If you want a complete / fully configured modpack that has ALL the fixes applied, I've released modpacks with EVERYTHING already set up for the vortex mod manager here:
Okay, that cleared it up for me. Thank you so much for not only working on, and uploading these mods, but also taking the time to respond diligently. I will check out the links you provided!
I downloaded the lastest version and the 'Ending Face' is still blocky. Strangely enough, even the standalone mod for it did not seem to change anything. I don't think I made any mistakes. As far as I understand, had I not installed any mods, the face would have been ok, as it had already been fixed by Konami's patch. However, the AI Slop mod then effectively cancelled out that update and brought back the blocky face. But from that point, overriding that texture with the aforementioned standalone mod or this update should have fixed it. If anyone has the time and is willing, please let me know if you're aware of a potential problem that I missed. Thank you!
All texture mods should be in the ovr_stm (Steam version override) folder.
This makes it so that: A) You don't overwrite the game's original files B) You don't have your mods wiped out when your game gets updated / if you verify your files through steam.

EDIT:
ohh sorry AISlop now has the subfolder !
EDIT:
ohw well, so mods files need to be deplaced now to override AI SLOP !!!!!!
