I have an updated version that I haven't released yet. What texture tooling is there for the 2003 PC version? I'll happily port it over myself since there's a ton of other texture bugs in that version too. :)
I've just been using texmod, but I found a really old forum that hosted some mods that were using a tool I think just called "Solidus Tools," but I can't find a working link to them anywhere.
Thanks! Plenty more still to be done - I've been working nonstop daily the last two months preparing a MAJOR update that will correct thousands of texture issues. Gotta make this the definitive version of the game. ♥
Extract the textures folder directly into your game's main folder (where the .exe is), do not manually move things around. MGS2 & MGS3 have a folder based file loading priority system and the structure is EXTREMELY important. I highly recommend using Vortex mod manager to install this mod as it'll help deal with file conflicts with other mods.
Just wanted to say thanks for all the work you've put into restoring MGS2's original PS2 content. I've played every version of MGS2 over the years, and they all feel off in one way or another. With the MC version, a bit of elbow grease and your mods, I believe we are finally getting a definitive way to experience MGS2.
Im very happy to hear that. You think youll be able to add those filters back that are in some of the cutscenes on the ps2 version? I watched this video that explained a couple of them along with other issues with the port.
Just so you're aware, that video is quite outdated at this point - there have been a number of fixes Konami themselves have done since then.
That said, the video barely skims the surface of the game's issues, and gets a number of things wrong - a number of the issues that mention as "missing" effects are actually scaling issues, or effects running too soon.
I have a more complete list of all the issues which I've spent dozens of hours carefully researching and verifying myself across every version of the game, you can find it here: Metal Gear Solid Master Collection - Community Bug Tracker (It also details what all has been fixed so far, including things mentioned in that video)
I can't re-implement the color filters as that's an engine issue - likewise for the lighting effects being scaled wrong, and other things that are problems inherent to the engine itself. With that said, Konami themselves are STILL patching the collection (MGS2 & MGS3 have patches that are visibly currently staged via steamDB at this moment), so be sure to report issues which you want to see fixed directly to them here so they can get fixed officially instead of having to rely on mods ♥: Konami's bug report form
Yes, you can also find my modpacks which contain MGSHDFix, this mod, and the rest of the other bugfix mods all preconfigured for one click installation via Vortex mod manager at the bottom of this mod's description page.
