A few days ago Konami released an official fix for the laser, however they only fixed the front part being invisible and not the issue visible in this video.

Unfortunately my mod is still very much relevant as it does fix this issue. Hopefully one day Konami will realize that the transparency blending cycles are not additive as they were on the PS2.
