Make sure you use the File Limit Disabler. It's installed by placing in the same directory as the original game's exe and launching the new exe you downloaded, not the old one. If the game is slowed down while playing with the file unlimiter, I can't help, sorry. It's not under my control on how that thing works.
Which files would I rename to what specifically? Is there any documentation for MGR modding that I could look at or any sort of widely available tools?
pl1010 to pl0100 (body) pl1011 to pl0101 (hair) pl1012 to pl0102 (sword) pl1013 to pl0103 (sheath) pl1014 to pl0104 (visor) pl1017 to pl0106 (head)
Those are all the names you have to change.
(You don't need to change the others.) (Btw don't worry if the head disappears on the train after sam cuts your arm off, that is normal it's just a thing with how that scene is done.)
