Love the mod, but what about Raiden's forward dodge? The Sam roll causes an animation mismatch and Defensive Offense is really lacking in terms of movement.

There is no Sam roll. There is an animation bug, but it only affects the sheath and only on the side dodges. I made this mod for myself, and I wanted to keep the forward Defensive Offense
You could join the modding Discord though, if you want to investigate your desired changes

Ah alright, was just curious over Raiden's original (and clunky) forward dodge from the outdated version of this mod. Will check out the Discord, thank you!

I'm sorry if this comment seems ignorant since I know little to nothing about modding, but is there any way that the player can use both defensive offensives and the dodge? I think it would be really cool if possible, but I understand if it isn't since the dodge replaces the def. off. animation and controllers only have so many binds

There might be some really obscure and uncomfortable way to do it...but yeah, I don't think it can happen. Nice idea though

Ought to work fine on keyboard. My best guess is the file location is wrong; the file path should look like this:
      \GameData\pl\pl0010.dat
Hope it's as simple as that, good luck m8

Thats exactly how I have it, But I also have your ninja run mod that uses the same pl0010.dat file. I did make it so both existed at the same time and it gave one a (2) so I am not sure if it works. Its replacing defensive offensive right??

Unfortunately that doesn't work. Normally the game reads the "dataXXX.cpk" files, but it can overwrite the files contained within the CPKs with mods like this one. The way it works, though, requires that mods match the file hierarchy and the names of files that already exist in those CPKs.

I actually started with modding 'cause I wanted to mash mods together like that. It's pretty easy once you find and learn the right tools, I recommend it. Anyway, I coincidentally already made what you described, so I will upload it as an alternate file on this mod's page.

Thanks for the awesome dodge revamp mod! Feels really snappy to use. It's kinda hilarious to see the bosses throw their biggest attacks at Raiden and then he just nonchalantly does a somersault like, "That it?".

Nice to have a dodge mod that doesn't look out of place and flows into and out of animations properly. Thanks!

Hell yeah. I love the Sam anims, but I must admit it's better when everything flows properly

It's same as vanilla, A + X on gamepad (do the math for other controllers) and I don't know what the input is for keyboard

Wow, I love this, dodging now feels more natural and fluid (to me at least). Any idea why was this scrapped? Difficulty balancing, maybe?

I believe that the "Defensive Offense" was conceived to maintain the idea that Raiden is always on offense, never defense. The block/parry input may be mapped to light attack for the same reason — it's all meant to facilitate natural gameplay, or something like that. I think Platinum went a bit overboard...but although the D.O. idea is cool, the big problem with it is how long the animations are and how you slide unnaturally after performing them. If it wasn't for that, I'd still use vanilla: instead, I always have this mod on.

      Glad you like it :D

Nope! You just need to make a folder named "pl" in GameData, and drop the mod file in there. This works for almost all MGR mods, although there is a vague limit to how many of these "loose" mods you can use at once
