To solve invisible arrows, add to the end of descr_flaming_projectile.txt file:effect arrow_warhammer_model{ type projectile { model models_effects/arrow.CAS clr_adjust_by_ambient_intensity fade_time 0.1 view_dist 300 } }
The Beastmen faction is unplayable. Every battle no matter how big or small the unit size crashed on the loading screen. Siege battle also crashes. Please fix this.
Hovering the mouse over the Fiends of Slaanesh in Custom Battles causes a CTD. Presumably it also causes a crash everywhere else. Also, arrows are invisible and the torches during night battles have a weird gray texture. Can you help me with those issues?
So i got a working BOTET version and wanted to test this version out. I replaced the old files with the new ones and got the 4 gb patch. However when i start with the bat file it's just regular Med 2 which starts. I know i'm missing something here. Need some help
Nvm i solved it! The mod map name needed to be the same as the one downloaded. BOTET_AC
I'm just a player here, but to answer your main question:
1. It has a slightly different campaign map.
2. It has many new and unique factions replacing the many Empire clones and Chaos Clones.
So instead of 10 or so Empire factions you'd get 1 single Empire faction. The new single Empire faction also has their areas adjusted so that they aren't too overpowered.
Instead of 4 Chaos factions you'd get two Chaos factions plus the "Rebels" are now the "Demons of Chaos. In the old mod you had four factions - Nurgle, Tzeentch, Korn and Slaanesh - in this Alternate Cut you instead get the Warriors of Chaos as one faction, and the Beastmen of Chaos as another - the Beastmen are their own playable faction and aren't immortal anymore - and as stated the Demons are now the "Rebels" so they spawn and are immortal.
There are changes done to the Orcs and Goblins, in the old mod you had one pure Goblin faction known as the Night Goblins, and then you had one "Orcs and Goblins" faction consisting of all the different Orcs such as Savage Orcs, Black Orcs and the normal Orcs - in a mix with the Goblins. In Alternative Cut you instead will get access to two more Orc factions while the original faction has lost access to some models, but there are new models for the new factions - so the Savage Orcs and the Black Orcs are now their own factions - meaning there are three Orc factions now.
Then we have the Skaven, they've been divided into two factions where the original Skaven faction are in the Old World and then their New World Pestilen Skavens are now their own faction - so you'd get two Skaven factions instead of one - with completely new units for the new faction, some shared possibly.
And then you have the undead, where in the old version you had the Vampire Counts and the Tomb Kings, but in Alternative Cut you'd also get the Vampire Coast, Dukedom of Mousillon and the Legions of Nagash - so this means three new Undead factions, and 5 in total instead of 2.
Then there are a bunch of completely new cultures/races/factions too - the Halflings, Amazons, Marienburg, City-States of Tilea, Kingdoms of Estalia, Sultanate of Araby and the Norse.
So you could say that instead of many Empire factions and Chaos factions, you'd get more variation in factions with completely unique units.
Alternative Cut is also bringing completely fresh animations to the mod that weren't in the old version of BotET.
And it is also bringing new custom cities in battle and on the map for some factions.
New strat-models, new art, new music?
It's an alternate version of BotET with a lot of different and unique choices. The mods are totally different due to the many different choices of factions.
All big mods like this one will need the external patch/4gb patch/Large Address Aware patch to work.

EDIT:
To solve invisible arrows, add to the end of descr_flaming_projectile.txt file:
effect arrow_warhammer_model{
type projectile
{
model models_effects/arrow.CAS
clr_adjust_by_ambient_intensity
fade_time 0.1
view_dist 300
}
}
effect_set arrow_warhammer_model_set
{
lod 1000
{
arrow_warhammer_model
}
}

Also does it need external patch to work too ?
