Going to be making a few changes to BetterCrates as there is still a few teething issues with DLC 3 but recently got out of hospital and have a fairly long recovery so may take a little while to get out there for the minute.
I hope you get better soon. Not because I want anything, but just because your a fellow human who is in pain. Thanks for this mod, and also for your time!
Mod appears to do very little, but every so often you'll get a crate that has a few million c-bills in it (only on higher level missions, I think).
However, this crate existing on the map affects the "total potential payout" during negotiation, so you can take a mission with an expected "potential payout" of 11m c-bills and if you don't find that one crate you end the mission only getting paid 2m.
Noticed this myself: on some missions the value of C-bill from salvage crates will be like 2-3x the actual mission payout (e.g. a 9M-payout mission that without collecting salvage crates only pays out maybe 2M). Not only does this wildly skew the "Total Potential Payout" listed value for the mission, it also means that it's almost mandatory to bring along a light mech for every mission that shows a high payout (or deal with taking an extra half hour in your heavy/assault mech) to manually pilot all around the battlefield to look for every last hidden salvage crate otherwise you're leaving 1/2 - 2/3 of your payout on the table.
@Grahamldlw Would it be possible to drastically decrease the amount of C-bills which are possible to find in salvage crates to prevent this: capping at a lower value like the equivalent of 1-2 extra negotiation points into the negotiated bonus per crate (so like 250k-500k C-bills)? If not and it is intended for this mod that C-bills from salvage crates can be worth way more than the actual payout from the missions in which they appear, I understand. I like getting the chance at better weapon rarity drops from this mod, but not the way it can hugely skew the Total Potential Payout value.
Do you know if there is a mod that adds extra fields to the negotiation screen to show the separate values that make up the Total Potential Payout (e.g. breaking down how much of it is from the negotiated bonus, how much is from the primary/secondary objectives, how much is from any salvage crates that spawn in the mission, etc)?
I'm probably going to remove the cash crates soon from the list because adjusting the value shown on the mission screen is a significant amount of work and risks conflicting with some other mods.
Even just lowering the max value of the cash crates to be worth 1-2 negotiation points of Negotiated Bonus payout (so like 250k - 500k C-bills) would work; the main issue is just that a single cash crate can have so many C-bills in it that even a single one will drastically alter the Total Potential Payout value.

Are there any updates planned for this mod?
The negotiated payout is calculated in part by the value of ALL crates (not just one) present on the map.
