It's a great mod, but the performance hit is colossal. I have 90-144fps on a gaming laptop with RTX 3070. After installing this, fps becomes uneven, erratic and constantly drops to as low as 45. Basically, the performance cost is equal to running the game in 4K with DLSS. Hopefully something can be done about it as it looks really cool.
I'm running a GeForce Titan X (Pascal) video card, it can handle anything, but this mod despite it looking incredible, tanks my FPS as well. I'm going to see if I can find a way to tone it down so I can keep it, because it looks amazing, but if I can't, I'll have to remove it.
Being that it's 8 years old (and if I remember, is not optimized for real time rendering), it is not able to make use of some/many modern rendering optimizations, pipelines, etc. which means its raw power doesnt help it much
Tried this with latest DLC5 (minimal fog DLC4 ready) and while it works (I run on RTX 4080), if you turn Ray Tracing on (max), there are noticeable graphical glitches in form of some ray-traced dots appearing white & black here and there on corners and a lot in the distance, apparently not optimized or too much going on. In vanilla the same "artefacts" can be observed on some surfaces in the distance of the hangar, so that's how Ray Tracing works, and that's why they offset this with DLSS. Either way will keep using this mod as I don't care about Ray Tracing, this still looks better and run smoother, but there might be some internal conflict to look into one day, as with let's say RTX 9090 Ti Ray Tracing with this mod would still be unusable due to this effect.
Small PSA - for DLC4-accompanying game patch, but without DLC4 itself (yet), the version that works properly is 3b from 08 Jun 2022, listed under "old files". Every version after it is quite glitched, and results in hangar looking *worse* than vanilla. The listed one works all right.
There's only one version after and it is 3c for the minimal fog version. The others are all version 3b listed under Main files else is at it should be so please don't share incorrect information.
And yes, the DLC4 updated version assumes the person has DLC4.
I don't understand what you mean by "incorrect information". I was referring to "minimal fog" version only, and the version I listed is the only one that works properly post DLC4-accompanying free patch (game version 1.1.335) , but without the DLC itself. Version from "main files" won't work - which is half-expected, as it assumes DLC4.
My comment points out which version from which date works for people running game on latest version, but without latest DLC. There is NO incorrect information there.
I just have one question... How did you turn on the free camera? )) Everyone is doing this and everyone is silent like a fish. Yes, I know about the CTRL SHIFT V combination, but it does not work in the hangar after the release of one of the add-ons. And if this is mod-tool functionality, then here is an idea for one of the most requested mods - a complete free camera, ideally not tied to a controller.
Thanks a lot. )) I still have to suffer with the settings, but everything works even better than I wanted. It's time to create something beautiful based on this game. ))) https://youtu.be/Y-ql9yxDD2A
Lice this mod. it really makes the hanger feel more immursive and lit up, but i have noticed something with the shadows being too dark depending on the mech, like almost b&@*$ black when the room is all lit up now.
Even with these supposed performance improvements, it still absolutely TANKS performance. I went from 100 fps to 45-50 even with the minimal fog version.
The halving of framerates is not worth the visuals tbh.

$1200 adjusted for 8 years of inflation = $1500, on the low side.
A second hand performance equivalent (GTX1080/RX5700XT/RX6600XT) is worth around $150, meaning an estimated 90% value loss in 8 years.
Ouch.

The question is doesn't it affect performance on the different missions?

Or if you're on AMD or just want to use something else, use Frans Bouma's UE4 engine unlocker
