Is there a way to make this work with the YAML setting that disables weapon tiers? I prefer having that option toggled on, just less equipment clutter, and I can't complete any weapon collector missions since they all ask for tier 0 items and all items are tier 1 permanently. Even when the items are tier 0 in the quest once I claim them in salvage they no longer count. Unsure how to fix that.
Would it be possible to add a toggle that ignores weapon tiers for this toggle option that YAML provides or does anyone know of a work around?
Just wanted to say great mod, the missions feel worthwhile doing especially for collecting mechs, hunting mechs, and equipment. Problem is I am noticing some rewards, like one equipment collector that gave me UAC/5, gave me heavy rifle ammo instead of UAC/5 ammo to compliment. May want to take a look at this?
It's a great mod idea but for me the rewards are now a bit too good. Now I get several masc items for rewards, or twice they wanted to reward me 96mil c-bills for a simple "kill a lance of assault mechs" job. I now have 2 dozen BAPs and ECMs lying around... Not sure if running Tex' cantina rework has to do with anything with it but an in between of the two extremes of vanilla and better would be great.
Am i blind or just unlucky but does this mod grant any gear found in solaris showdown? I find myself lacking many weapons and electronics from that dlc. and afaik there are no mele weapon rewards? Am i delusional and need more sleep?
I have not purchased DLC 6, so, if there are updated Cantina missions for it, then I had no idea that they existed.
I may take a look into updating this given what you've told me. I have other priorities right now, and I am not very interested in working on MW5 (after all of the work I've put in along with some other factors), so I can't guarantee that this will be done. If I end up purchasing DLC 6, perhaps I will update it then (when it's cheaper).
So, I was notified of someone having a 96,000,000 C-Bill reward for Mech Hunter contract while using this wonderful mod. I was wondering if this is just sheer dumb luck, or if its due this mod having a scaling mechanic for C-Bill rewards? I ask this as this user was also using my Cantina mod which changes some of the contract requirements (It also does not change the rewards at all or include the files for the rewards). The contract they had though was to kill 14 Light mechs (This contract is derived from the Brutal difficulty and just happened to be one of the more "challenging" ones from that difficulty). We both had a good laugh at what occurred, but we have no idea if this is based on a possible reward actually being that many C-Bills, or if it somehow scaled with the "go kill 14 Light mechs". I just wanted to double check in case I need to make compatibility adjustments between both mods.
Anyways, thank you for your time and have a good one.
Lol, it it is both "sheer dumb luck" and your mod crossing over with one another.
The 96,000,000 CB reward exists and is very rare, but there are no requirements that ask for a player to simply kill a certain number of a 'Mech class.
So you are aware (as I've mentioned in a previous comment), I may remove or reduce this reward in the future as it is so potent. It is still very rare to come across, but the value is still so high that it can almost seem like a glitch.
Hehe, that's actually kind of neat. I personally don't mind having a super rare reward like that, but it's understandable if its removed. Anyways, appreciate the response!
What a coincidence, I was just about to post here thanks to that high reward :)
In my case the target was a specific Jaegermech chassis, so not too easy imo. Also it did kinda save me from going broke after a few missions that while successful, absolutely had me near ruin thanks to repair bills (damn artillery mechs lol). So I'm super happy I found this unicorn mission :D
You might want to dial the DHS rewards back a bit. They're by far one of the most precious items in the game and it feels like I'm swimming in them before I even really get into assaults.
This mod feels really nice at the beginning of the game, but the more you progress, the more you want to uninstall it Primitive weapons chance are WAY to high. Getting your first tier 5 chem lasers are nice, getting 89th Tier 5 M.Chem and 132th S.Chem is not ( and i am not even at 10 level of all careers, and i have over 50 of every T5 primitive weapon) Also,. payouts for mech collector missions are a joke. Why would i give up an assault mech for a few T3-T4 weapons, even Lost tech ones and no money?
I've been at Level 10 for every Career Path and have nowhere near as much as you're talking about. In fact, I've done enough to do this about two times over (Level 20, so-to-speak), and also have nowhere near what you're talking about.
As for LosTech and payouts, I am considering some re-balancing. I don't want payouts to be too high, as there are enough C-Bills to go around in the base game, but I still want there to be enough so that it's worthwhile. As for weapon payouts, I want that to be the focus. LosTech is powerful and precious, so I want them to be both prioritized and balanced against C-Bills when being rewarded. With the amount of assault 'Mechs you can salvage in vanilla, I don't see how this would be an issue. (If you're playing modded (with YAML, at least), you may want to change your salvage chances/costs. This is a mod to work as a compromise for both, with vanilla being the priority.)
Well, i admit i exaggerated a little with "over 50 of ALL" - i am currently at L8 mech collector, L9 mech killer, and war dog and treasure hunter are probably L15 or something, and i have 20 H.Rifles, 38 M.Rifles, 48 L.Rifles, 27 L.Chems, 90 M.Chems and 132 S.Chems, and thats T5 only, there is also T3-T4 ones. In comparison, i got 24 T3 UAC5, 8 T3 LBX10 and 8-10 T3 LPL/MPL/SPLs, no T4-T5 of any of them, and 10-15 of T4 variants of each of Artemis launchers (most of which are kind of useless because with Artemis, you use only largest launchers). I also only got 4 guardians and 5 BAPs.
Yes, i am playing with YAML with V2 salvage, so assault mechs costs a lot - ~60 salvage picks + 2-3 millions to assemble. I can see giving up one for some T5 pulse lasers or LBX, but not for a couple of T3 ones or any periphery weapons. Earlier ones weren't bad - trade a commando for 3 T3 LPLs and some XP and rep - yeah, i am all up too it, but with assaults it became very uneven.
It's hard to balance with how variable things can be in YAML, *in addition* to accounting for vanilla play - both at high levels. (I am also balancing rewards between both the potency and rarity of LosTech vs. RetroTech vs. standard weaponry, which can be very challenging.)
Like I said, there is still some balancing that I may end up doing (as I have many projects going at once, and I only have so much time and energy to spare), as I can see room for improvement, but it may not be enough to satisfying every possibility.
The new update made mech collector rewards reasonable, but mech hunter maybe a bit too generous...
But, you fucked something up with money/gear balance or something. If a reward is rolled that contains only money, no gear, the sum is ridiculous. I got "collect 2 EW active probe" with reward of 8 million and "kill 1 BNC-3S" with reward of 96 millions. Yes, that ninety six.
I'm aware - although I wouldn't say I "messed up" in some way. The reward was always there (although the amount was less).
The reward is something that I wanted to maintain as it was there in the vanilla Cantina rewards. It was meant to be a big C-Bill boost/surprise for those players that could use it in exchange for how low the C-Bills rewarded were for typical rewards. The chance of getting it is actually incredibly low relative to being awarded some form of equipment (which has not been changed between versions), hence, how big the reward could be. (Again, the amount used to be lower.)
The reward got very big with the re-balance, so I was thinking of changing/removing it. We'll see what I do.
This is great, would you consider adding mod option sliders for us to tweak things like more CBill payout then equipment, more rep/lower cbills, only requiring 1 of a mech for collector instead of 5 of the same type (for lower tier mechs like locust), etc.

Thanks for sharing the funny story. :)

Still, it's one of a few things I am thinking of doing further balancing on.
We'll see what happens.
