      Because they might be guys that like other guys or women that like other women, and want to play a character that reflects that sometimes.

      The reason is simple. You can't replace the chancellor with on of your campagnions anymore. So marriing a woman, who takes his place is the only way to get full access to the chancellors abiilities. For example to hand put fiefs to Lord who allready have one.

   For Odin's sake, Brytenwalda is about dark ages/early medieval Britannia, not ancient Greece. Maybe were is also a wild west submod for Brytenwalda somewere.
