A short blurb about same-sex marriage in M&B, given this is one of the questions I've been asked most about since making the mod. While programming something like this into the game is beyond my ability it turns out there is a way to make it happen in the Native game, at least for women. It should work in this mod as well, at least in the Native version (since I've done nothing that I'm aware of that would prevent it).
"Oh yes. I played as a female character, started my own kingdom, and made one of my female companions a lord. Apparently the game treats them as if they were male, so I proposed to her and had a lesbian wedding. It was one of the most ridiculous moments for me playing the game."
Is it just me? When you visit Khudan and Go to the tavern, the castle, and around the town. Something isn't right... If you walk around the town, The town is just gone and all you could see is the npc. In the tavern and Castle, The props are missing and the npcs are just in odd places where you usually won't find them. I can't really show a picturee cuz Idk how to. I'm not sure that Khudan only have this bug, hopefully.
Good mod. Except Kinaga raiders, I turned those off, has no relevance with the mod and if you're not a khergit, avoiding them is impossible, also they kept killing my caravans, kind of a douche move to randomly add that to this mod but it's your call. Tried playing with it as it was for 4 irl days and just hated the kinaga, would be okay if lords attacked/could beat them but since they don't have that ability, I'd suggest messign with config to turn the kinaga off, just for a little at least so you can get more than 5 recruits, and if you're using nords, probably leave them off forever since they tripple your movement speed with a party size of 50.
I might be a year and a half late, but I am definitely enjoying this mod.
Quick question tho... I'm a few months in on my first major game w/ this mod and... are the female hero/npc's additional or replacement? I can't find Borcha, Matheld, or Lezalit. If they're replacements, would you mind providing a list? Thanks!
A late reply, i know. It's been 2 years since this post. Anyway, for those who wonder the same; the female heroes are additional. The new ones Huynh, Ayira, Kione, Liana and Isabella are added next to the existing ones such as Ymira, Katrin, Matheld, Borcha, Jeremus, Lezalit, Rolf, etc. Same with female troops, they are added instead of replacement. But it can take a while to find the existing heroes. Just keep travelling and visit every tavern. Only the female version of those lords; they are called lady (or countess if they belong to swadia or rhodok and in the vaegirs they are called boyarina) are replacement of original lords. But only 2 nations will have ladies instead of lords at the start and that's the Kingdom of Nords and the Khergit Khanate. The towns of Tihr, Wercheg, Ichamur and Halmar will have a female ruler instead of a male one. Lady Myrtell will rule Tihr instead of Jarl Aedin, Lady Airie will rule Wercheg instead of Jarl Irya. Lady Yisun rules over Halmar and Lady Kouang is the ruler of Ichamur.
50/50, though male seems slightly in the majority. Counts often have male ones. Only female lords, such as lady yisun and lady kouang seems to have more female ones.
The thing with male troops spawning in taverns is not only with diplomacy, but also with just the native one. I use the latest version of this mod with the original native module and here i see also male troops spawning in taverns, such as swadian militia. Next to that it seems that even your character is altered if playing as a female. At the very beginning you are able to slay the bandit, but you get defeated by sea raiders or deserters. If your troop is all female, then you will face heavy losses. Though i did manage to capture a female knight. And those kinaga are a bit too hard. Last time i went to Jelkala (rhodoks capital) and there 2 kinaga troops showed up at both sides. An other time kinaga were trashing a rhodoks count. And often those kinaga have troops of 250. Not realistic, since even kings don't have that many. King Ragnar has around 223, Harlaus also something like that. And counts don't stand a chance against kinaga. Make this please a lower number. The female units and new companions are a nice addition though and the new nobles. I only wished it isn't that hard and that i need to walk on my toes when crossing the map. It is not fun to run into 3 troops of sea raiders or deserters or even those kinaga with their 250 units.
Ok, little update on this post. I said above here it was hard with those kinaga around and those sea raider parties. But you can stay out of it. You can work around it, become stronger and finally even defeat those kinaga. I did that with a troop of around 165 and mostly elite sword sisters combined with sarranid veiled knights, one legendary iron lady, nord expert troops bunch of swadian knights, 2 expert female bandit captains and a bunch of companions (kione, ayira, isabella, lianne, huyn, katrin, ymira, deshavi, klethi). Defeated even those 250 troops with relative easy once you have those elite or expert troops. Oddly, i saw in my game that kinaga were taken prisoner by steppe bandits. Probably because there was spawning one kinaga troop near Ichamur but several steppe bandits. If you defeat those steppe bandits you can have your own kinaga riders.
Making both sexes recruit-able through the village interface proved to be beyond what I could do. The male units are readily available in the taverns, though unfortunately there's a good bit of praying to the RNG Gods to give you the units you'd want. It is nice when you come across a band of Huscarls for hire (except of course early on when you have little money, curse my luck...). It's probably the shortcoming that frustrated me more than anything else in the mod, and much of the story was written to try and make that limitation sound semi-plausible.
I have no idea if this would actually work, but maybe you could have the base female recruits be part of the random pool that gets pulled from villages that like you. In normal M&BWB, if a village likes you a lot/if you own them and they like you a little, sometimes you'll get a shitload of surprisingly good troops instead of a few normal recruits. Perhaps you could somehow get the female recruits in like that? AND it could be justified "storywise" -- women generally don't run off to adventure, so the village needs to want to let them go and work for you.

Kudos to /u/tawesd for the post.
