I'll probably get hammered by the site admins for saying this but someone has to and I don't care.
There is no workaround for the Rockstar Launcher automatically replacing modded files. Rockstar are fully aware of the issues this causes and have absolutely no intention of fixing it. The only solution is to pirate the game and mod that version. I feel completely justified in doing this because I have already bought and paid for three versions of this game. One on the PS3 when it originally launched, another on Steam when I got into PC gaming, and most recently on the Rockstar Launcher when I realised my Steam copy wouldn't even boot up.
If Rockstar aren't interested in fixing a game I've paid them three times for then as far as I'm concerned I am well within my rights to fix the issue myself by any means necessary.
And if anyone has a problem with that they can gargle my freshly shaved b*lls.
That bug is quite persistent though... I actually had to replace the file, while the game was running. Otherwise, the Rockstar launcher would automatically "update" the game and add the corrupted version back in. That also means that, as long as there is no official fix, I'll have to repeat that procedure, whenever I play through the game and reach the ending again.
How'd you replace the file while in game? I couldn't do it myself since file explorer tells me it's already in use. Why can't rockstar send a simple update fix to this!
Well this is pretty late, but, you don't have to do that anymore. Just extract the mod inside "update" folder inside game directory and the game will load that up instead. Rockstar launcher wont update the files either. Don't know if this requires ThirteenAG's Fusion Fix mod to be installed but, yea, don't have to change files during runtime anymore.
Youre putting the file into common\movies using OPEN IV right ? You can't change files directly from the directory using windows explorer, you know that, right ? That's the way all Rockstar games are modded, you can't just change files like it's 2005 or something.
I'm talking to customer support on this matter, they are persistent that there is something wrong with my computer haha. Worst customer service ever in my books. I have uploaded the original .bik file and the patched one to rockstar support. Let's see if they have some kind of brain activity.
What a lifesaver. I finally got around to completing this game and I was greeted with a glitch. I thought I might have to delete and redownload it, but on a whim thought to check to see if this is a known bug. While I am not surprised, I am disappointed. WTF, Rockstar?
The download doesn't work due to the launcher forcing an update after installing the old patch. The launcher forces an update, which contains the glitch ending
Thanks for the fix, I wish Rockstar would update not only to fix this bug but also fix the clues narration for every chapter. Also I feel like the latest version kind of muffled the audio in the cutscenes. Is it true for other people?
