Edit 26 November 2021: I have updated this Mod to work with ME3Tweaks Mod Manager and updated the keybinds for all three games. Please let me know if you encounter any issues, and please be sure to always backup your unmodified Mass Effect before modding it
(NOTE FOR MASS EFFECT 1: at this time, Mass Effect 1 still requires a Coalesced edit that overrides other Mods that edit the same file. If this is an issue, I can write a post about the changes I made to the Coalesced file so you can implement them yourself.)
I feel dumb, I installed the mod following the description but nothing changed in my game. Use/Sprint/Cover is still one button i.e. space bar and Left shift still brings up the switch weapon/command button. Are you supposed to always start the game from modmanager, tried doing that but because of the ea play bullshit, it didn't start. Starting from steam works but the mod isn't installed.
Don't know why but this mod is somehow causing certain dialogue sequences to be skipped and unavailable. When it is installed in Mass Effect 2 LE and I try to initiate dialogue that starts a loyalty mission then sometimes it will just skip the entire conversation after a couple lines, and will do so every time I interact with them and thus I cannot start the quest.
I narrowed it down to just this mod causing the issue but cannot find anyone else with the same issue.
Thanks for this but I have a slight problem. Your description says for LE1 :
Walk keybind is now "Right Shift" by default.
Sprint is now it's own keybind, triggered by "Left Shift". (NOTE: you cannot change this in-game)
Right Mouse Button, Escape, and Xbox X will now Skip Conversation without selecting a Dialogue Option."
I use the arrow keys on the right bottom side of my keyboard exclusively for movement, and bind all other keys close by for use, sprint, jump and crouch. There is no way I can activate left shift to sprint. Since I mostly play games in always sprint mode and Not sprinting makes you "walk" anyway the Right Shift for "Walk" is not needed. Can you switch the Right Shift - Walk and the Left Shift Sprint to the oppisite making them Left Shift - Walk and the Right Shift -Sprint?
Or is there a way I can edit this change myself? - If not, I just wont be able to use your mod. Thanks!
For unknown reason it does not change anything in other language coalesced files. I had to add them myself. EDIT: Okay, after a few tweaks and comparing it with several other ME2LE mods, I was able to get it half working. It is totally confusing.
(LE1) After deleting my settings save file (in "Documents\Bioware\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Save\ME1\PROFILE") I finally got it to work. Seems like it was overriding the Coalesced_INT.bin file. Thanks for the mod, it is now working as intended.
Edit: I should note I did try resetting the controls in the options menu before, which wasn't enough.
Also I've found a way to toggle sprinting for anyone interested: In BioInput.ini, change Bindings=( Name="PC_Sprint", Command="OnRelease StormOff | OnHold 0.3 StormOn" ) to Bindings=( Name="PC_Sprint", Command="StormOn" ) and Bindings=( Name="PC_MoveForward", Command="Axis aBaseY Speed=1.0" ) to Bindings=( Name="PC_MoveForward", Command="Axis aBaseY Speed=1.0 | OnRelease StormOff" )
Thank you! I wasn't using this mod, but found this page through searching after my own manual coalesced edits through ME3tweaks weren't working, and this was indeed it!
Is there a me3 mod for "Optional for Mass Effect 2: Prevent Sprint/Storm from entering Cover"
Edit: i looked at the option this mod changes, and there is no such option for me3 built in. Edit: https://www.nexusmods.com/masseffectlegendaryedition/mods/1379
Thank you so much!! After some searching, I even found a way to at least change the Keybinds out of game.
If anyone here is searching for that option, you need to go into Game/ME2/BioGame/DLC/DLC_MOD_ExtraKeybinds/CookedPCConsole and edit the BIOInput.ini file. Anything in there should be self explanatory. Just change the key names of the keybinds that you want to edit. I for my part just switched the keybinds for cover and sprinting.
Ok, so I figured out that all the configs in ME3 have to be edited in the coalesced file. But whenever I just switch LeftControl with LeftShift, the mod stops working completely and it goes back to E doing everything. I just want cover to be Shift and sprint to be Control. Do I have to change something else as well together with swapping the two keys?
Solution: 1.:You need ME3Tweaks ModManager 2.:Download and unzip the Mod somewhere (like an empty folder) 3.:Drag&Drop Default_DLC_MOD_ExtraKeybinds.bin into your ModManager (like installing a Mod) 4.:Modmanager "unpacks" the bin into an regular folder named Default_DLC_MOD_ExtraKeybinds (appears next to the bin) 5.:Inside are regular Text/txt files, open Bioinput and change the Keybinds. 6.:Drag&Drop Default_DLC_MOD_ExtraKeybinds.txt (not the bin!) into ModManager again (see .3) 7.:Modmanager "repacks" a new Default_DLC_MOD_ExtraKeybinds.bin (next to the .txt files) 8.:Replace the new Default_DLC_MOD_ExtraKeybinds.bin with the old and delete the unpacked folder (see .4) 9.:Now zip everything up again (DLC_MOD_ExtraKeybinds folder + moddesc.ini) and install it like any mod (ignore improper mod warning).
I feel like having a separate Cover key unconnected to the Sprint key is more trouble than it's worth. How do I rebind the Cover key to be the same as the Sprint key?
So a friend of mine downloaded this for her copy and it just... Doesn't work for some reason in ME3? It's literally her only mod. We can't get anywhere on Palaven because of it. Are we just doing something wrong?

In BioInput.ini, change
Bindings=( Name="PC_Sprint", Command="OnRelease StormOff | OnHold 0.3 StormOn" )
toBindings=( Name="PC_Sprint", Command="StormOn" )
andBindings=( Name="PC_MoveForward", Command="Axis aBaseY Speed=1.0" )
toBindings=( Name="PC_MoveForward", Command="Axis aBaseY Speed=1.0 | OnRelease StormOff" )

EDIT: Also it disables use of spacebar, period.
