ANNOUNCEMENT! THE MELLO COMPATABILITY VERSION HAS FINALLY BEEN RELEASED!
Thank you all for your patience in waiting for me to ignore my perfectionism and finally release a version of this mod built from the ground up for MELLO. I hope you all enjoy it! Don't forget to tag any weird color situations you find in the bug tab! I went through every environment like usual to make sure but I'm sure I probably missed something.
Thanks for your support in making this the second most downloaded and endorsed Reshade on the LE nexus!
I have been so humbled and blessed by the support and appreciation for this small but affective "mod". You may see my work show up in other games here on the nexus, who knows. But until then, THANK YOU.
Please Consider Endorsing If you Enjoy! So Others May Find This Easier.
I recently completed my two playthroughs of the Mass Effect trilogy back to back, and your reshade, and I can't stress this enough, it's irreplaceable. I'll go one step further and say it's quite possibility the best reshade I've ever used and seen anywhere on Nexus Mods. I wish I could do more to show you my appreciation than just leaving this comment, but on behalf of everyone whose playthrough had benefited greatly because of your talent and hard work, our deepest and most heartfelt thank you. You should be proud of what you've accomplished and done for the Mass Effect community.
Oh my God...Well I don't think you need to be at all dissatisfied with the appreciation you've shown me. Evidenced by the full heart and the fulfilled purpose I feel. You, and others like you are the reason I spent the time for these games that have moved me so. I honestly can't imagine a nicer thing to read. THANK YOU! It makes me happy like nothing else to know this impacted and improved an already near-perfect game trilogy for you. I have nothing else to give then my humble thank you for taking the time to let me know my late nights were completely worth it... THE ME COMMMUNITY IS THE BEST!!!
Colour correction is always assumed to be easy - right up there with sound design - but it is deceptively difficult. For the first time, I felt the need to download a reshade preset because it is perfection. You did an incredible job and you should be proud. Thank you for your hard work.
My goodness....I dont really know what to say. I think my heart just grew three sizes. That is the nicest thing I could have imagined. Thank you! I hope you enjoy! and let me know if you find any major color glitches!
Just gonna mirror what everyone else is saying that this is a gorgeous reshade. It does exactly what a reshade should do, enhancing a game's visuals rather than distracting from them with blown-out colors and neon.
At first, I was nervous to install this because I already really liked the look of LE. BUT HOLY HELL. This is genuinely such an amazing Reshade I couldn't recommend it more! You've done such an incredible job on this, and it really does breathe more life and realism into the games. It's absolutely gorgeous, I can never go back to playing ME without this. Well done!!!
Wow The smile I get from reading comments like these make it so worth it! I am so glad I could breath new life into this wonderful game for you! I'm also glad I could overcome the ReShade stigma, God knows I'm aware of it (and most of the time deserved lol).
I never comment on anything but this took me so much time that I got mad, you wrote so much yet nothing to help someone new to properly find your reshader pack thank you for your hard work but still honestly...
Mello tweaks the shadows, colors and overall look of most environments, this mod also tweaks all of those things, but in post processing so with MELLO being so popular (and rightfully so) it was only right that I create a version that kept my vision for a next gen looking Mass Effect while keeping the better (most of the time) lighting and atmosphere of MELLO.
Had a quick question about the MELLO compatibility version. When installing MELLO it asks if you want to use some optional post processing tweaks (bloom, motion blur, FilmGrain). Does your MELLO reshade utilize those tweaked post processing effects, or should I not install those? (Or does it not really matter either way lol) Love what you've done with the reshade. Really breathes a ton of life into the game.
Thank you so much! Bloom is fine, since my preset was designed with vanilla bloom in mind, as for motion blur thats up to you, I dont think it should interfere, but filmgrain should absolutely be left off since the sharpening used will certainly interfere.
Maybe I'm the dunce here, but I cannot get anything to work. I have the ME1 pack in my binaries\win64 folder. I can open ReShade with the Home button. But none of the options are selected, there are no effects enabled.
Oh gosh! My message didn't post, sorry I wrote like two paragraphs like a month ago!
Assuming you have the main download file and the update file downloaded and installed correctly, you then have to navigate to and select the correct preset once you are in the in-game launcher. Go to the blue bar at the top of the screen and navigate to the preset.ini select it and the shaders below should activate with all the tweaks.
I'm... really confused. I've tried looking through comments on here but its not been much help. Is there a video walk through by chance?
I'm new to this and while I've modded with nexus mods in the past (on bethesda games mostly) . me3tweaks mod manager is new to me and trying to download this is honestly scary to me cause idk what im doing.
Like. I got mello installed (I think. the apply mod button just is ever present along with all the other mods i have) And ive not even opened the game yet after downloading it and installing it. I have the 3 folders installed but i don't know what to do with them. it says to adjust to do something to delc sharpener... but idk what that is. or how hitting home on my keyboard or somewere else helps me. I feel like im missing a step here that is obvious to people who have used this before
I got a 1080p setup (I think anyway the monitor is 1920x1200) I don't think that will hurt anything. But you say to hit home in editor... what editor exactly? I'm so lost but everyone recommends this mod and says its irreplaceable and a must have. Can you point me in the right direction?
Hi there! Thanks for your kind words and its awesome to know I am getting referrals at this point XD.
Like you mentioned a video tutorial might help a bit more than my directions so here try this one out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyLjtTJwTSI&ab_channel=ProfessorHens As for the Delc_sharpen, that is a shader that is being used by the reshade program. After you learn how to use the in game launcher menu to tweak things, I encourage you to tweak the Delc_sharpen shader to your liking because its effect changes based on the resolution of your monitor. Since it was tweaked with 4k in mind you might want to turn it down but honestly its all up to your taste.
No. it will not break anything. All of reshade is post processing, it does not interfere with the actual game in any way. Think of it like putting sunglasses over your eyes to make things look different.
Hello and thank you for your really great work! I have a question about Color MELLO EDITION. Could you do this for Vulkan compatible? With DXVK I would have an enormous performance boost. Normally you would have to choose Direct3D 10/11/12 for the Reshade installation but to make it compatible with DXVK I choose Vulkan. It also works, the effect is displayed and I also have increased performance. The only problem I have is when you start a dialog. Every dialog start is briefly delayed and there is a short lag with every dialog you start and end and that is really annoying.
So would you be able to make Color MELLO EDITION compatible with Vulkan?
Hi there! Thanks for the kind words, but I'm afraid I would have no clue how to make a compatible version of my preset with Vulkan. I would try disabling certain shaders in the in-game launcher menu and see if the lag issue is fixed after each one, if you find a certain shader is the culprit try disabling it and running without. For the most part the only shaders that are completely vital to the recoloring of the games is: Lightroom, Selective Color, & PD80_03_Shadows_Midtones_Highlights
Everything else, is post processing and is essentially set dressing.
I'm not sure why my comment is not appearing. I want to install the Mello version. Do I have to install Mass Effect - Color 1.5 FINAL UPDATE as well? Thank you!
Does anyone know why my game crashes after I apply the MELLO ini patch? I put the file in \ME1 4K 1.5 folder, ran it in ReShade and it just crashes. Did I put it in the wrong directory? Or does it have to do with the fact that I downloaded Mass Effect LE through Epic? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!
Hey there! I appreciate the question, sorry i didnt get back to u sooner.
The only reason I know of that reshade would be crashing a game is if the wrong direct x setting was chosen for the game during install. when installing choose the latest direct x version. I think it only goes up to 11. but thats what ME works on. If that doesnt work. Look into renaming the dxgi.dll in your game directory (where the game .exe file is). Sometimes that needs to be renamed to dx11.dll or something. Hope that helps keep me updated!
The HDR in this game does not work right for me funnily i've had exact same issue with Dead Space Remake and ONLY those two games alone.... Fucking EA, greedy pricks can't do anything right - don't even get me started on Jedi Survivor!!! xD Putting aside EA incompetence though.
Major thanks to you! This mod is literally godsend, compatibility with Mello on top of that... I'll certainly enjoy replaying this trilogy once more :D

EDIT: Ok so i've scrolled down and saw another comment. I've placed the new one and selected it instead. Let's see.
Happy modding! Hope you like it!
