It is definitely this mod, removing the mod fixes the problem. It seems to make a duplicate of the Death Mask in the selection menu that occurs before the normal N7 breather helmet. The default helmet is chosen by the game simply by applying the first breather type helmet that appears in the selection menu. I think its something to with the order in which the helmets are listed in the BIOGame.ini in the mod folder, probably a simple fix, but I'm not 100% on that.
This actually brings up a question. Does the optic Garrus uses actually help him aim somehow? If so, why is it on his other eye if he's a right-handed shooter?
He might be left eye dominant. That's not uncommon. I'm left eye dominant and right handed. I shoot with my right hand but aim with my left eye. If I fire a bow and arrow, I do it left handed.
Maybe someday, no promises though. It's a mash-up from a hair from the game and one of Anto's Sims hairs (that I ported from a Fallout port), so I'd need to get permission to share it. Also it's for the iconic FemShep, so it wouldn't fit custom FemSheps' heads as far as I understand.
