No matter what values I change for the colour in the save editor, it doesn't swap from the dark brown/red. This is for me2 only, as I've yet to try the other 2 versions.
  2. Ah, once again I'm back at ME because sooooo many new mods came out the past two years and I have to catch them ALL :D
And again I just *can't* help using brooks hair :D
    Thank you <3

So I saw a few people were having issues with the orange colour in ME2, and I've figured out a workaround (of sorts). I did some comparison between this mod and Sapphire's mod for Brooks hair, and noticed that Sapphire's version doesn't result in the orange colour; the only difference is that version is replacing CustomShort02, which is one of the default styles. This isn't a problem with Morax's version of the mod, it's an issue with ME2 and how it handles hair colours for hairpacks vs default game hair meshes even if it's a direct replacement. Here are the values I was using for my hair in the trilogy:

In order to get the proper blonde colour (or something close to), I had to tweak ME2 in (approximately) this manner:

In other words, to avoid the orange colour you need to do a little save editor tweaking in order to get as close as you can to your ideal colour. Here are a few comparisons below for visual reference, and what you need to tweak in the save editor to get the colour you want. Note this is only for ME2, as it renders fine in ME1 and ME3 for some reason.

*please note: I use a modded HAIR_Long_Diff for my images, which is why there is less colour striping in mine compared to others. All 3 of the Brooks images are using that modded texture, so it's not related to the texture itself.

It may take some tweaking to get your colours exact (I just did a quick tweak, if I were going to go with this I would do a little more specific tweaking) but it seems that additional hairpacks pick up the value more accurately than the in-game default hairs do. Why it works just fine on Sapphire's hair mod for Brooks, I have no honest idea. I did test by taking this version's mesh, exporting it to .upk, and doing a hard-replace of the CustomShort02, and I was able to get the desired colour I had set without tweaking in the save editor at all. Hopefully this will help some of you work through the odd orange colouring in ME2 though and show you how to fix it in the save editor for import into ME3!

In the LE1 version, how can I get rid of the dark scalp underneath the hair? My Shep is blonde and the black scalp is poking out in the front :(((

Hey there, thank you SO much for this! Love it. My Shep's hair goes from a red-ish colour in ME2,  to a complete black in ME3 with no colour. Like, it's as if there is no colour at all there, even in cut scenes. I have double checked and updated the biog_hmf_hir_pro.Global.HAIR_Long_Diff for the Mask &Hair Diffs, but it hasn't changed the colouring. Any way to fix that? Thanks for your help in advance!

Edit: I have also checked the HED_Hair_Colour_Vector, it states a brown colour, too. It looks the exact same unfortunantly. Thanks again for your help in advance

I can't get this to work. I've changed the meshes and everything else to what's listed on the description. But my Shepard is still bald.
Update: I got it working. I forgot to apply the mod *facepalm* but now I've encountered a different issue. My Shepard's hair went from black to a dark red. How do I get it back to black?

Hi! I assume the lack of blackness is in Mass Effect 2? I still need to get around to that. I'll look at it this weekend.

    Hi!

I was able to get the hair mesh working in LE1 and 2, but I cannot find the Hair_Mesh value in the save editor to get it to work in LE3. I was able to find Hair_Diff and Hair_Mask values to edit, just cannot find the Hair_Mesh value to alter. Any advice?

Scratch that, turns out I had to reinstall the mod to keep it from crashing my game. I figured it out.

I'll look into it when I have the time. It might take a couple of days though!

You may try the following though:
      Hair_Diff:
      biog_hmf_hir_pro.Global.HAIR_Long_Diff

It might give some seems but the colours should work properly.

Hi again. Sorry to trouble you again but I should have clarified this brown hair problem was on the Me2 version where I tried to get Black hair.
I tried your method and the brown hair problem still persist. I notice that dark colors will show brown colors all over the hair. I don't know maybe its the hair model itself not working well with dark colors for Me2. Again. I get black hair perfectly in Me3. If need be I can share a screenshot of the issue.

Hi there! I've noticed that LE2 is really weird with textures. I converted a different hairstyle from 3 to 2 (same Mesh and texture), and instead of brown hair it looked completely black.
Also I've read that LE2 doesn't seem to really like black (as in true black) for some reason. You might want to try changing the hair colour to "almost black". I'm going to test it myself as well! I'll keep you posted
