This mod is kinda unbalanced in some ways and kinda balanced in others. Namely, you can toss shielded/armoured people about (very valuable on insanity) but also because of the way it's coded (I guess) abilities intended to deal higher damage to certain defences don't deal that extra damage. For example on a regular mech on insanity incinerate will one shot its armour if this mod is turned off, but only deal about 60% of the armour's damage with the mod turned on. I'm guessing it's because incinerate penetrates the armour, calculates the damage it would deal to the mech if it were unarmoured and then deals that damage to the armour. This makes some powers much stronger on insanity and some much weaker.
Using this for LE2, and honestly, it does NOT make the game much easier. It's a lot more balanced than you might think.
Many larger enemies do not move much and will take no damage when lifted, so it's still up to you to do something after lifting them. Very often they will recover and keep fighting, as your lift durations are actually quite short.
And, as the mod author has stated, the alternative is just to hit these enemies with Warp or Overload anyway, which are already very devastating.
If you're an Adept, or just a fan of Mass Effect 1's biotic fun, it's worth it to use this mod to set the "shields block biotic powers" off.
The mod works on ME2 but the screen to select powers still shows them as red, saying the power can't be used when an enemy is shielded or armored. The powers still work though. Is there a way to change this so the powers appear normally?
This presence of red warning on a power icon is being judged by a ShouldUsePower() function every power overrides. One would have to override that func in every power to change the circumstances it checks.
just a little heads up, this mod makes powers penetrate both shield AND armor, it breaks balance a little bit when you realise you can stun a heavy mechs with a level 1 throw, or freeze armored enemies with cryo
not to mention... I didn't confirm, but there is a possibility that with this mod shredder ammo becomes the strongest ammo in the game
Any chance on making the same for melee attack in both le2 and 3 ? From a lore perspective, a punch to the nose you not bump on the kinetic shield. A blade to the brain even less
Hey, bug report and it's quite a big one if you are a completionist: this mod will stop you from getting the "Incineration Specialist" achievement (you have to incinerate the armor of 25 enemies using the ability "incinerate")
I completed the game and just had this achievement left, it was at 0/25 progression, I tried everything and must have incinerated the armor off over 100 husks in different ways and it wasn't registering. I disabled this mod and it started to register the progress and got the achievement within 5 minutes spamming it on husks.
Hopefully this can be fixed, great mod btw and thanks for making it =)
I reported it under the bugs tab, but the mod creator doesn't believe there is any way to fix it given how the mod works, so disabling it is the only solution.
Perhaps the only way on Hardcore and Insanity to have Jack play like the superhuman biotic god she's supposed to be.
She goes from being able to destroy goliath battle mechs with her fists on the prison ship, to being unable to swat a random fly because it has a shield generator.
Omg this is awesome. I've never been a fan of shields completely stopping biotics in ME2. Yea yea singularity blah blah. Anyways I appreciate the mod Nyph.
