Expanded Squadmate Armory is finished and, except for the odd bug that may show up, there's only one future potential update that may happen if a major one is done for the core mod Expanded Shepard Armory.
This means, that no, I won't be taking requests. Porting each armor is a lengthy process that even if I have gotten used to do, it still takes me over a day to do it right before being able to test it thoroughly. So no, I know many of you are excited to see your favorite armor in your favorite squadmate, but I will not be doing more for the time being. This might change, but do not count on it. I hope you understand it. I always am open to constructive criticism and listening what people may want to see in the future; but right now, it is not my priority as I will be shifting back focus to continue porting the rest of my OT mods, plus the newest version of the Unofficial LE2 Patch.
Please if you have bugs to submit, ALWAYS attach with your comment a diagnostic as explained here below. Enjoy the mod and hopefully a bug free experience!
Has anyone used this mod in conjunction with a mod that replaces Miranda's hairstyle with a bun? If so, which worked best for you? Miranda Hair Replacer by BubbleButton and Miranda Lawson's Armory by clericofshadows are the two I'm aware of and I'm currently debating between them, and I think this is the last of my Miranda mods that would possibly be affected by a universal bun replacer.
Hi, I was using this mod recently, and it was working well. I had to restore the game from a backup today, and reinstalled everything, including this mod. But for some reason the armors now won't work when I'm going to Horizon, when they worked just fine on the Archangel recruitment mission. Now I'm just seeing a blue 4 over squadmates who had the armor equipped but are using their default look.
In-game screenshot of the squad selection screen: https://imgur.com/a/vJUC009
I have never heard of seen of such thing. But it definitely has to be an issue with the manager, which is what edits the squad selection screen. I see you have textures installed and that you reinstalled on top this mod, but I doubt that's the issue and assume that was you trying to fix the problem?
I can only offer this suggestion: go to manage target; installed DLC Mods and Delete (not Disable) the DLC_MOD_M3_Merge. That's generated by the manager to make this mod and other stuff work. Once you quit the manage target window, the manager will run a new merging and hopefully fix whatever went wrong last time.
Otherwise, I'm afraid you'll have to start modding your game from scratch.
The thing I don't understand is that I just did mod the game from scratch prior to this happening, and it was fine until I hit Horizon for some reason, because at least Jack still had her new outfit during the Archangel mission. Just as soon as I started Horizon, it did this.
I have no idea how, as I don't use that mod, but if you say it was working until you hit Horizon within the same installation (I misunderstood earlier and thought it worked until you had to restore from backup), I can only but wonder if the Virmire Savior Mod is at fault and breaking squad merge. There's nothing on my mod Horizon specific and I have never had such reports before in here :/
Yup! Looks like Virmire Survivor is the culprit. Something about it adding a new squadmate doesn't mesh with your mod, so the armors are unavailable on Horizon. Just went to recruit Tali straight afterwards, and whaddaya know, the armors are all back in the squad selection menu.
It doesn't appear that there's any long-term issues with the incompatibility- you just lose access to the extra armors for Horizon, and that's it. A bit annoying, but not game-breaking.
Sorry for the late reply. If you missed the armor, you could cheat it in with the savegame editor by adding it manually. Know that I won't support any issues that may arise from tampering with other parts of the savegame.
From the Mod Manager go to Tools --> Trilogy Save Editor.
From there open your most up to date savegame for Mass Effect 2 and go to the "Raw Plot" tab. The default tab there is Booleans and under it there is a search field that says <empty>. Type "68090" without quotes and the number will appear below next to a checkmark. Check it and save your savegame. That will tell your game that you own that armor and Mordin should be able to use the armor now.
They autoequip when needed, just like in vanilla when their breathers are enabled. Whatever level you're playing will determine if they have to appear or not. The exception is Kasumi, which I purposely made her wear a helmet at all times.
Hey have an issue to report I guess. And I am sorry in advance, I am kinda a moron when it comes to this stuff. I didn't keep playing as soon as I noticed the issue with a single character. Started a new playthrough after downloading and installing your MOD. Did Mordin's recruitment mission, picked up the armor, but am not given the option to change mordin's appearance to it/equip it.
You have a minimal mod installation and I'm currently away to do a proper replication from my end. However, I notice the texture check-up is failing to read all textures from this mod so I fear something went wrong with either the download or installation. Since you do not have any texture mods installed, would you mind to uninstall this mod, then redownload and reinstall this mod and check again? Hopefully that will fix whatever is breaking access to parts of this mod.
The errors on the log are related to the Manager not finding a previously specified path for the original Mass Effect 3. There's no listed errors for this mod's files; so I hope you get the option to swap armors as intended in the squad selection screen now.
By the way, was this an issue just with Mordin? Did you have the chance to test if unlocking other armors also allowed changing the looks of other squadmates?
I'm having an issue in which the squadmate's armours do not appear when equipped, and it just reverts to their default outfits. No reported mod conflicts are coming from the mod manager or from what I can see in the log; any help would be tremendous!
I've checked your savegame file and Jack is dressing in the appropriate armor for me. I can't seem to replicate the issue you describe, nor do I see any conflicts that catch my eye (quite unlikely considering most of this mod is brand new files).
Did the new armor looks stop working at some point (I see you are a bit ahead in the game and not just started)? Does it happen to you with every squadmate? Please, any extra information would be helpful.
They haven't been working since I got the armour available to equip, and yes, it happens with every squadmate. I also started the game with the mod enabled, but it didn't work. I reinstalled the mod several times to see if it would help but that didn't do anything either.
OK, this really does not make any sense. May I ask you for one last special diagnostic for me?
Before launching your game, open your mod manager and go to the Mod Management tab on top.
Click on ASI manager.
Make sure to select the tab that says "Mass Effect 2 LE".
Look for the ASI called "Streaming Levels HUD" by Mgamerz. On the right panel hit Install. It will then appear in green under the AutoTOC ASI, which is already installed in your system.
Hit close and launch the game (there will be green text on your top left corner of the screen, which is normal because of the ASI I asked you to install).
Load a savegame with 1 or 2 squadmates with ESA armors selected and take a screenshot where the wrong squadmate(s) look is visible.
Share the screenshot with me, so I can see what the game is loading right at that moment when the bug appears.
After you have done this, you can close your game and use the same instructions to uninstall the ASI I asked you to install (so you don't have any more green text info).
Is this what you need? I have the mod's armour loaded onto him, which should show up on the Normandy. If you need something different, please lemme know!
Yes, this was it. I have to say I am stumped, but still, this is useful information. May I ask you to please upload to some host service the following folder and attach it in your comment?
It is the folder "DLC_MOD_M3_MERGE" found in under your game installation path in \Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Game\ME2\BioGame\DLC\DLC_MOD_M3_MERGE\
I'm asking those who created the feature to add more squadmate looks and whatever is not making them work seems to be related to whatever is going/not going on there.
Sorry for the late reply, but I want to let you know that I forwarded the relevant information to the people behind the squad merge system and they are looking into it. There's a bug happening on your end and they're trying to figure out how to fix it (I might need a mod manager update?). If you are not on the M3Tweaks Discord server, I recommend you to join, so we can offer you extra assistance in real time.
I know I'm late to this particular party but I'm having the exact same issue, I hope this was solved at some point.
The armors show up in the squad selection screen but not while playing the game. They don't show in hubs, missions or on the normandy. The characters always wear their default armor. It has never worked for me, it didn't work on my old pc and it doesn't work on the new one with a fresh install of everything. I've tried various combinations of mods and no other mods than those required and just for the life of me cannot get it to work.
I've added everything you asked the other person for below:
I have forwarded this once again to the people that seem to know more about this. I cannot figure out why the squadmerge function is bugging for you both and/or if the other person ever got their issue fixed. I suggest you to also follow the discord link above where toolset developers could help assist further and/or may ask you for further diagnostics.
As an addendum, I want to ask, did you use the batch installer to install your mods, including your textures?
And lastly, just in case it needs to be pointed out, due to using Casual Hubs, the armors will never show up on the Normandy or non-combat hub areas if no combat missions are available. However, the pictures you showed me of Garrus recruitment not loading my armors are indeed where these armors should show up.
Yes I did use the batch installer including for the textures, however I have used the batch installer without textures also, I don't think I've used the mod without using the batch installer though, so if you think that may get it to work I'd give it a go.
Also yeh I am aware about casual hubs, the armors don't work in any situation with or without CH installed, but yeh even on missions they don't show. I'll see about joining the discord at some point. Thanks for your help
If you have a backup, I would suggest you reverting back to it and try to install your batch again but without the textures and then test if it works as intended. If it does, try using Mass Effect Modder to install the textures afterwards. Textures themselves aren't the issue, but I think the batch installer may be doing weird things when textures are on the list. Hopefully, that will fix it for you.
Oh wow, it actually worked! I didn't think it would because the first time I played using the mod I wasn't using any texture packs at all and it didn't work then... I guess I must have been doing something wrong differently the first time around.
Thank you so much for your help, it's very much appreciated. If you want me to pull any diagnostic info like before when it's now working I'd be happy to. I restored from backup, removed the textures from the batch, rebatched and it worked. I havent tried installing the textures again with MEM yet, to be honest I can probably live without them but I'll give it a go now and edit my comment.
Edit: Working perfectly using MEM to install after batch. Thank you, and thanks for the awesome mods.
I used to play with that mod back in 2023 and it worked great. Recently I started a new playthrough, I picked up Mordin's armor at the clinic as usual. However when I went to the the squadmate selection screen the game wouldn't let me switch skins for him. I thought that maybe I hadn't actually picked the armor up. But no, Boolean 68090 is checked in the trilogy save editor. So I decided to test if Zaeed had the same issue. I went to the lab and unlocked the Phoenix Project armor. Same thing again, the squad selection screen won't give me the option to select an alternate costume for him. I even checked an old save from my previous playthrough that I know for a fact had all the costumes unlocked, everyone only had their vanilla, loyalty and dlc costumes as options.
I did install and update a few mods before starting this new playthrough. But after disabling obvious culprits like Armored NPC's and nothing changing I'm at a loss for what could be causing the issue.
I even did a full restore to remove texture mods and then reinstalled all the mods, yet the issue persists.
Here's the diagnostic I ran on a save file that has Mordin's armor picked up, and the Phoenix Project armor still in the lab ready to unlock for testing.
It looks like you reinstalled your game in a different path and that some leftovers from the old installation remain at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Game\ME2\
The mod manager function that patches the squad selection screen tried to patch the file in there and failed to due to it missing. Alright, I'm really confused. Basically the old path the game was installed at was E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Game\ME2. That path no longer exists. I know the mod manager still looks for it however because one of the logs shows
2024-04-27 01:32:49.001 -04:00 [WRN] [M3] Cached target directory does not exist, skipping: E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Game\ME2
Now this error [ERR] [M3] Compilation failed! Exception: System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Game\ME2\BioGame\CookedPCConsole'. Doesn't make sense to me. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Game\ME2\ is where the game is installed right now. I even deleted the ME2 folder and verified my files integrity through steam to make sure everything was as it should. But the logs still show that error. As for the mod it still doesn't work even after reinstalling it.
I tested it with only a couple mods running -The unofficial LE2 Patch -The prologue framework -Expanded Shepard Armory -Expanded squadmate Armory Still no luck
What do I have to do? Reinstall the whole mod manager? Disable steam cloud and reinstall the game?
The log says the game where mods are being installed is at C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Game\ME2 not C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Game\ME2\.
The mod is not working, because the mod manager is trying to compile the added outfits into a file it cannot find in the address typed in italics. It sounds like you somehow may be having two versions of the game installed, or at least partially still. This mod and any other adding additional armor for squadmates heavily relies on the mod manager compiling several functions into the appropriate files or they won't show.
I see the manager also having cached a game directory it can no longer find on your E drive. Could you go to the mod manager and hit the Manage Target button and ensure there is only one path left for each game? They should be C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\. After you do that, restart your mod manager, check there's only 4 paths for the Legendary Edition (1 for each game and another for the launcher) and then reinstall my mod. If this does not work, then I will have to ask you to head to the ME3Tweaks Discord server for further assistance.

How do I get helmets for them, like on screenshots?
