So I'm having trouble updating to Version 2.0. I've tried deleting 1.0 and doing both the mod manger download and manual download but it keeps saying 1.0
Thanks for this. Meanwhile it's a relatively small thing to edit, that line also made me really mad as well, because:
1. The VS is not part of Normandy's crew and therefore not under Shepard's command 2. The VS is a Spectre 3. Even ignoring the above, Kaidan is an Alliance Major, outranking Shepard who is still a Commander
This conversation just reeks this weird main character syndrome where the player character can do no wrong and everyone who disagrees deserves to be shat on.
No, both Kaiden and Ashley are Alliance Marines where Major is O-4, Shepard is Alliance Navy where Commander is O-5, two separate branches. Also, they both served on the ship Shepard commands so even if they did outrank him they still would fall under Shepards command because their part of his crew where he's the CO.
Valid point but joker is specifically referring to a situation where they were under the council's command If you talk to them in the hospital Shepard can ask "any plans to come back to the normandy?" And the response is "I don't know I guess it's up to Udina" They also mention (and will go to) Hackett wanting them but they prefer the Normandy and when Shepard accepts they're agreeing to fall under their command at that point
The Alliance does not use a separate rank structure for the Marines and Navy. The Alliance Marines are considered a part of the Navy itself. Aside from a few ranks in which the marines use different titles, the structure is mostly unified. Major is an O-6 rank in the Alliance and Shepard is technically still a Lt Commander, since that's what they're referred to as in the journal in ME1's prologue and they never get promoted at any point in the games. Lt Commander would be an O-4 rank. But even in the best case scenario, the highest rank that is still referred to as "Commander" is Staff Commander, which is O-5. So either way, Alenko outranks Shepard by at least one but more likely 2, ranks.
I'll definitely get this when I get around to modding 3 (still setting up my mains in 2)
Does anyone know if there is a similar mod that alters Joker being a tool with Sheperd over Thessia? I always disliked you either permanently alienate him or have to kiss his ass. Considering he's being a dick you should be able to set him straight.
Hi! Thank you for this mod! Would you ever consider removing the dialogue with Kaidan mentioning how EDI "bashed his head in" in during the Citadel DLC and the following comments with Joker and Samantha scolding on him for bringing it up? I found it really out of character for three of them and uncomfortable to sit through.
Hi! You're welcome :D I have actually thought about doing that because I hate that sequence a lot myself and tend to actively try and avoid it so I did some experimenting with it before -- so I won't promise anything but its definitely on my want to do list
Hi, I haven't played the game in a while so I don't really remember the line. Would it be too much of an inconvenience to ask what specific line was cut out? for the benefit of those who may not be aware of it, and then realize that they agree with the mod. thanks!
Shepard says "go easy on [ash/kaidan] they've been through a lot" and then joker will say "yeah like drawing a gun on a superior officer, i bet thats not gonna look good on the yearly performance review*" and the convo ends there
I made it so that the convo ends at "go easy on them, they've been through a lot" b/c I found his additional commentary to be unnecessary
Its no problem btw, thank you for asking -- its an extremely minor line but its always bugged me that Shepard can't really defend the VS here
I always HATED those lines sooooo much. Like, he KNEW my Shep had been dating Kaidan because he mentions it in ME2 ("there's a reason I don't date crew"). So knowing how I feel (or how I felt and obviously still feel since he's back on the Normandy) why the **** would you say that? Bad judgement, Joker.I mean he's not exactly good with timing and he lacks tact (the Asari comments after Thessia after particularly hard to hear), but that one really annoyed me (not to mention how Shep and VS are equal in rank now as both are Spectres, but don't even get me started on that topic). I love Joker to death and 98% of the time he makes me laugh, but sometimes -just sometimes- he really needs to think before he speaks.
I actually just passed this part on my playthrough, but will use it in my next one and will definitely endorse. Thank you again.
Yeah I have a hard time with Joker in ME3 for a lot of his dialogue and so I used my beginner's knowledge of the dialogue editor to make this quick mod to fix one part that bugged me
I think Joker "literally under guard at the beginning of me3 because he willingly joined Cerebrus" doesn't get to make fun of Ash/Kaidan doing their jobs as spectres and protecting the council using the little information they had (like this was hammered into us during ME1 that spectres only answer to the council?)
I'm so glad you like it btw -- making/using mods to fix personal minor issues with the game is what keeps me going
Yeah it's definitely noticeable how he goes from "Jeff Moreau, a smart, serious, ironically-nicknamed, slightly bitter, loyal and heroic character native to the Mass Effect universe" to "the ME isekai of Seth Green, an incessantly 'funny' pop culture personality with a specialty in mean-funny" over the course of the trilogy. Pre-ME3 Joker liked and respected both VS, mourned one deeply, was glad to see the other alive on Horizon, and empathized with Shepard's complex relationship with them, approving of a romance in ME1 and offering optimism about the messy reunion in ME2. ME3 Joker is just kind of a sexist ass. Which wouldn't even be so bad if Shep could respond appropriately, but the game always gives him the last word, too. Add in an overlap with 3's "punish the VS for having a spine" fanservice, and it's just intolerable. Massive props to @usagiskiss for giving us a bit of relief.
I think he, along with a bunch of other characters, just became a mouthpiece to rag on the VS. Everybody shits on them in ME3 and it was clear the writers didn't care and/or know what to do with them, especially Ashley.
