Hey, how you be? I was wondering if we could get a status update on the LE3 mod? I know you're probably tired of that question and if you want me to f*#@ off, that's fine.
Yes, I was holding out for the past two years but sadly this one looks like it really may have gone the way of the famous McCoy quote.
Well, sometimes life gets in the way and the modder is unable to continue his work on the mod. These things happen. Still it's a shame to leave this mod-series unfinished it is the best mod in the original trilogy to this day in my opinion.
If you're playing an mshep, the romances for Kaidan and thane are really good. No need to wait for the mod; only a few unvoiced lines here and there.
Re: female same gender romances- you likely know this already, but the mods can be played through the orig. trilogy. I know it sucks to buy the games again if you don't own them- but you can often get them super cheap on steam or ea.
How the third game is affected if we romance Tali as Femshep? I don't care much if we don't have voiced lines in the third but if it carries over is nicer than ignoring it completely on ME3.
Here's a repost of my own experience with Tali X Femshep:
You can choose to keep your romance going from ME2. All of the correct dialogue wheel choices are there to continue.
If you do so, Tali will correctly speak her own romance dialogue, though she'll refer to you as her 'boyfriend'. There are only a few times this happens, though. It wasn't a big deal to me.
Shepard, on the other hand, will be silent during all romance dialogue. The subtitles for what Maleshep says will appear, and your FemShep will lipsync those lines. Basically, the game will attempt to play the male romance lines since those are the only ones for Tali in the files. It can't find any voiced by Femshep, so it will be silent.
This was acceptable to me since I knew the Same Gender Romances mod for LE3 wouldn't be out during my playthrough. It worked well enough. All of the animations worked perfectly with Tali and Femshep.
There were only a few hiccups during the Citadel DLC's party, and the end of the Citadel DLC.
I'll preface this by saying that I was playing with EGM, Project Variety, AHEM, and most importantly, Citadel Epilogue Mod with the full party option. I'm not sure if any of these caused the issues I had.
The DLC mostly played like the rest of the game. Tali came to Shepard's rescue after leaving the sushi restaurant, and she spoke her romance dialogue. When taking her to the casino, Tali takes Shepard's arm as you walk the red carpet. Shepard is silent, and Maleshep's subtitle's show. When inviting Tali to the apartment it goes through the romantic version of the encounter. All good.
It's just during the party where a few minor things happen. Your squadmates don't rib Shepard and Tali about being in their 'love nest'. They make no references to your relationship anywhere. Tali does sit on the couch with Shepard for the photo at the end. You wake up in bed alone, and Tali appears in the bathroom, just as if Shepard romanced no one.
When finishing the DLC, it's Joker that talks to Shepard, not Tali. I tried changing Shepard's gender in the save file to see if it changed anything and Tali showed up in this scene, and Maleshep's voice was being played.
All in all, it was good enough and satisfying for me. Not perfect, but I'm looking forward to another playthrough in the future with a properly implemented Tali romance. Whether or not that's from this modder or anyone else.
Thanks. I hope you're right and I'm looking forward to it. To be honest I play the series since it first came ages ago and sadly the LE never fixed the oldest bugs, but it has made it easier for compatibility. It is one dream coming true to have my FemShep to be with Tali this way. Before that it was only possible to use save editor and it wasn't the same thing.
I guess one of the ways to fix the "boyfriend" would require AI trained with the voice from both girls. A mod would have to fill the blanks with it but tough, since ME is not exactly mod friendly.
Not entirely true. There are some differences. For one, Broshep can't stare are Kaidan's butt when he rejoins the Normandy. I know it's a little thing but still a think. The other, bigger issue is the date on Apollo's where Shep and Kaidan forget they'd ever been in a romance. Talk about being pulled out of the game...
At this point I might prefer Rondeeno to just come out and say "I'm not doing LE3," wouldn't blame them, I imagine this kind of mod is a TON of work, but man I can't help but hope it eventually releases, and holding onto hope this long with no indication of it paying off gets a tad depressing lol
I think people need to take it easy, cool down and hold on. He didn’t abandoned his mods, you can see by the upload date and the update date of this particular mod, which is fairly recent.
Just to give some insight, I'm converting the excelent Ottemis armors to be used with ME3LE. The only ones I finished porting was EDI mecha and black suit versions. Why? Because the POS texture tool don't let you add MORE textures later if you modified the game files with other mods. Like for example, UPDATING A MOD like EGM. WTF?!
So to test the others I have to reinstall ME3LE to a vanilla state and reconfigure ALL THE MODS for testing the textures. Sorry, there are RL issues right now and I'm simply not in the mood to reinstall everything again.
Also, when they said the mods need to be remade from scratch again it wasn’t a figure of speech. The file structure of LE edition is entirely diferent, you have to find the particular file you want to alter by hand, is a tedious and time consuming process.
So, just wait and go play Cyberpunk or Horizon Zero Down in the meantime. :D
I don't personally know how to mod this game or many games in general. I've looked through a couple of the different modding tools throughout LE Explorer, guides, etc. to get a better understanding on why ME3 doesn't have the mod yet. And after experimenting for a few hours, it was very clear that this mod isn't something that can be done fast even if you made the mod on the original ME3 (it just takes a lot of time).
I can see just doing "smaller" mods taking quite a bit of work and time let alone something like this where you need to correct animations, edit and add dialogues using unused audio files or creating them by patching audio together. Then making sure it works with other mods and the previous two same-gender mods. I know I'm simplifying this and there's probably many more things that need to be done. But I can tell, that creating this from scratch, is no easy feat especially if it's not the only thing you can focus on.
I see the "radio-silence" not as the mod being abandoned, but more so still in the works. It's better to assume that and makes much more sense because wouldn't it be a lot easier to just say "I'm not working on it"? But I get why there's frustration or confusion though, because you can make the same argument in reverse, you could say "I'm still working on it".
Basically mods can take A LONG time to make/recreate. Assume the mod is still in the works until said otherwise.
Oh, and thank you for leaving this comment brfritos, giving more context as well. It's sometimes hard for me and probably others who don't know much about the modding scene to see how long a mod can truly take.
And to Rondeeno, thank you for making these mods & hopefully you're doing well!
I mean, I've played through CP2077 three times, BG3 6 times, Elden Ring twice, I've also finished AC6 and Hogwarts Legacy, and I've continued to play FFXIV and have gone through more then an expansion's length of time since I've been "waiting."
I don't mean to be facetious, but you're acting like this mod just dropped and anyone who's tired of waiting hasn't "given it enough time."
I do agree that no one should judge Rondeeno for taking as much time as they need, or even completely abandoning it all if they wanted to, this isn't their job and they don't owe anything to anyone, and anyone giving them s#*! for any of it are out of line period. But the people who have simply given up on waiting have plenty of reason to do so, as you said this kind of mod is an incredible amount of skilled work, and if no one has seen or heard anything about it for 2 years, it's hard to draw any conclusion other then "it's not coming, it was too much, move along."
Regardless I respect the work any modders do on any game, especially since it's almost all free when it very easily could be monetized and most people wouldn't even think it unjustified, but please don't tell me to just go "play another game," I've done that numerous times since the appropriate time of making that statement lol
The frustration comes from a lot of people ending on LE2 repeatedly. Who wants to go into LE3, have Kaidan remember the romance (voiced or not) and then totally forget about it on a later date at Apollo's. It's been keeping me from playing for a long time. I'm almost done with a new run of LE1. I'll import into LE2 and play that. I expect to have yet another save that ends with LE2.
it hasn’t been 2 years flat out. it’s been one year since Le2 sgr and 2 years since the actual sgr project started for all 3 games. considering i’m not a creator of mods and I have no idea what goes into it, 2 game mods in a year better and more fully functional than the sgr mods for the original trilogy, which rondeeno also made, is pretty good. the content difference between me2 sgr and le2 sgr is not insignificant it’s impressive. it’ll be the last significant mod made for the trilogy by rondeeno and only rondeeno and if its taking time, so be it. i’d rather it be fully functional and finished than missing content and voice lines because of false time constraints. whenever people ask about this project you’re always here…negatively…
I say something bordering on never. He did update this mod and some other mods, so maybe, but I'm not expecting it. I get he has his own life and his own stuff going on but stopping at MELE2 seems odd to me.
Agreed. I just wish he'd say it so we can all stop waiting. He owes us nothing, but the lack of communication to fans who adore his work is just simply unkind. I haven't touched MELE 'cause I'm waiting for this mod. If it's never going to happen, let us know and we'll move on with our lives...sadly.
I haven't touched MELE 3, which has dampened my interest in playing. I am on a new run and am in ME1 but I can't see me going beyond MELE2 at this point.
This has been answered quite a lot here. Basically it does, but with unvoiced dialogue at certain scenes and calling your shepard the wrong gender, along with some other potential issues.
We should all collectively beg Mentlegen3218 to reconsider and pick up the project. He is the only other modder that did all three games, but he said no to more additions.
To be fair, Mentlegen said he wasn't interested at this time but might reconsider. I agree an excellent modder, (I don't know if Mentlegen is he or she as the mods done were only female characters), but the work on More Gay Romances was top notch.
I'm also part of the crew waiting for the LE3 update. In my case, I played Sheploo and romanced Kaidan. I wonder if that one is easier to set it up? Just trying to avoid non voiced voice lines in LE3 while importing the romance. I hope the update comes soon. Thank you for everything you've developed so far.
i’m pretty sure in non modded vanilla mass effect 3 kaiden is actually bisexual, therefore romancable to male shep. I think the only issue is that he doesn’t remember your romance from me1 and me2 like he would with fem shep. while i never tried this personally, i think the le3 mod would set up dialogue for him to remember. just judging from what i read in the thread. the romance and dialogue is already in the game so if you’re okay with that then definitely go for a full playthrough ( I just double checked the thread again, it seems there will be some unvoiced dialogue but due to the reasons mentioned above his dialogue will work the best before the actual sgr le3 mod comes out. with minimal unvoiced lines in the beginning )
I finished a playthrough of MShep with Kaiden just recently, and it actually worked pretty well! I used the LE1 and LE2 mods from Rondeeno for those games, and then imported that save into LE3 and it worked like a charm! The game recognized the my MShep had romanced Kaiden in LE1 and Thane in LE2, and all scenes played as they would have for FemShep except a few lines were unvoiced (and one or two lines referred to my Shep as a woman). Overall it was worth it to me to carry the romance through! It worked just fine IMO.
If it's like OT (I didn't play MELE3 yet since I'm waiting for SGRLE3 to be ready), issue start way before with an unvoiced dialogue when you first visit Kaidan at the hospital
Sorry I haven't checked back on this mod for a while! I don't remember exactly how Apollo's played out, but I think it went basically like it does for FemShep + Kaidan but with some unvoiced lines from MShep. There are a few cases of that happening, where the game tries to recognize that MShep + Kaidan had a romance in the previous games but it doesn't have the right lines recorded with MShep's voice. I didn't find it all that immersion-breaking, personally - the majority of scenes worked just fine, since MShep can romance Kaidan anyway in ME3 so a lot of the content is already there. For any other character it would be worth waiting for the ME3 mod, but for MShep + Kaidan imported from a romance in ME1 & ME2 it worked ok, IMHO. I don't regret playing it instead of waiting for the mod.
