Hey I'm having some issues and was wondering if this is still supported and if you might have any ideas. I have a custom Ryder and the game keeps crashing when I use this mod and try to load any save. It never makes it past the loading screen.
I did manage to isolate it to this mod. I tried disabling it with the rest of my mod list enabled and it works fine. I am using the type C hair from the main file. I'm not 100% sure which preset it is for since I imported my Ryder but I believe it's 9.
It works making a new character, and I've loaded some saves early in the game on Habitat 7 and that was fine. I did get one crash during a loading screen / cut scene, I believe activating the tram to head to the Tempest for the first time. After that I disabled the mod, got past the loading screen and enabled it again and it was fine.
However it kind of seems to be the case that once I get out on my own and quit the game, I can no longer load it again with this mod. It gets to ~80% of the loading screen then CTD. This happened on another play through I started the other day and I just assumed the save corrupted or something and started over. Didn't look closely enough until it started happening on this save as well.
I am currently on the Nexus after finishing up the first bit of Eos. All my other mods without this work fine. And having only this loaded crashes the game. Any ideas? I've deleted my ModData folder, still won't work. I've tried removing the mod from Frosty and adding it back. Changing load order from top to bottom + everything in between. Not sure what else I could do to get this working again. If you have any idea's I would appreciate the help, love the mod!
Edit: I loaded the save without the mod, went to the Med Bay and changed my appearance to a vanilla hair style. I quit the game and then loaded the mod again. It loaded my save fine and then I went back to the Med Bay and applied the hairstyle again and saved. I was able to load my save with the modded hair again. I quit and loaded about half a dozen times just to be sure and it worked every time. Hopefully this doesn't happen too often, but seems like a workaround for my issues.
Hey, sorry I didn't save the exact face as I just made her to model the hair, but a few pointers: - Face shape is preset 10 - Used Jenya's complexion - Used all other non-complexion mods from the mod list in description
Preset 9 is notorious for terribly clipping with the Lani ponytail, but I'm hoping the upper layers will cover it all up. So far no luck yet making it work (crashes and such) but I'll keep at it!
Looks great in game, will try and get you a screen shot. I did not notice any clipping issues on the preset 9 at all. Thank you for doing the conversion. If I had one suggestion it might be to move the ponytail a little bit lower on the short shag so that it lines up more with the hair line instead of being in the center of the head.
Cheers,
PS. Posted 3 photos for you of preset 9 with complexion 10 from Stormi and your hair mod FLaniP
I see what you mean, unfortunately though this is an issue with how we have to put hairstyles together. Once mesh editing can be done, it can be fixed, but by that time we'll have even better hairstyles that we can add. Until then, hopefully this will do. :p
So far almost all my attempts at the other presets have resulted in crashes or infinite loops :( but I know preset 5 should be able to have these hairstyles so I'll keep trying!
Whooooot! Thanks sooo much! I've tried my hand at that but I also had to cope with crashes. Would you mind telling me how you managed to get it done? The project file would help me. I've been trying to get into MEA modding for a while now but, although I have quite some modding experience, the Frosty Editor is still pretty much obscure to me. So many variables that mean absolutely nothing to me...
Whoops, sorry! I just saw you included the project file. XD
I learned that "universal" doesn't actually mean universal shape for all presets, "universal" is the name for Annie's resources. So in your case, you'd have to combine "hair_c_mariah" with "hair_j_mariah", since both hairstyles are available for that head shape. Though you *can* place resources from one head shape to another, it's basically the same method, but could result in clipping or floating. Anyway, a small guide:
1. After you open either simpleitem or cloth_simpleitem that you want to edit, you have to add entries to BlueprintBundleRefAssetNamePairs by clicking on the plus sign in the same row. 2. In these entries, copy in AssetName and BlueprintBundleRef names of the hair pieces you want to add in the appropriate places. For regular hairstyles this should be easy to find by opening up other simpleitems and cloth_simpleitems. 3. Make sure that in the new entries you created, both under Settings and Parents section (for Parents you'll have to add a new entry with the plus sign) the Heap entries are BundleHeapType_Parent, and you have AllowGrow ticked. 4. This is an extra step for irregular hairstyles such as Lani or Cora, VariationHash should be 0. For your purposes it's not needed to be changed, but putting that here in case you want to play around with those later.
In case you need some visuals on this, Cullenite was very kind and uploaded her fbproject where she combined "hair_c_universal" with "hair_j_universal". Basically you'd have to do the same things as she did, just for a different file. Hope all this helps!
Oh also, be sure to copy this line into your FrostyEditor.ini, it will be very helpful in the future for irregular hairstyles, allowing you to list bundles: Advanced=True
Hey. Thanks so much for your help! Hmm, I already went through all those steps thanks to Cullenite's project file. I thought maybe I missed a step that's why I asked for further help. It seems though that you just cannot combine the "c_mariah" and "j_mariah" meshes, probably because there is somewhere else where it is defined what head mesh can use which hair meshes. That's just my guess though. :(
I have been able to combine two pieces that didn't belong to the same head, as well as use entirely different pieces on another head, so that shouldn't be it. :/ If you'd like, I could take a look at your project file and see if I notice anything.
Just to be sure though, you have the latest Frosty right? 1.3.0.1?
If you mean Frosty Editor 1.0.3.1 then yes I'm using that. Also, that's very kind of you. Here's my project file. http://www.mediafire.com/file/gx8rv22s352iu1k/myhair.fbproject
Oh I see now why you were combining mariah with universal. Seems like the ponytail piece in a hairstyle is always universal, or at least the Lani hairstyle also had a single universal ponytail piece. So combining those two shouldn't be an issue because they already belong in the first place.
Anyway, I had the game crash too when I opened the project first. After that I tried out VariationHash 0 and that did the trick. I suppose it isn't just for irregular hairstyles like Lani and Cora after all, my bad :/ so from now on when in doubt, just set VariationHash to 0. :p
