Hi, I have a question: this mod is compatible with other localizations of the game (I am using the Russian version)? Does the mod overwrite dialogs with Kelly?
This mod does make some minor adjustments to the dialogue with Kelly, yes, so that she doesn't flirt with you if you didn't flirt with her. And I have only done this for the English language localisation. My understanding is that your game just won't load this file.
In that case you should still have Kelly appear as long as she survived, but she will always act towards you as if you had a flirtatious relationship and had dinner together. It shouldn't cause any other problems, you just won't get the non-romantic edited dialogue.
But I stress, I haven't tested this.
If that works, please let me know, and I'll add the information to the mod description.
First and foremost, thank you so much for making this mod! I've been wanting a standalone mod that makes Kelly show up in ME3 even if you didn't flirt with her in ME2, but I don't want to use BackOff for various reasons.
Regarding this mod's compatibility with rondeeno's Same-Gender Romances for ME3, I would like to point out that the modded romance that may cause conflict with this mod is the FemShep/Ashley romance. Specifically, in SGR for ME3, the opportunity for FemShep to lock-in Ashley's romance occurs at the memorial wall in the Citadel refugee dock. You may want to clarify this in the mod's description.
Regarding the Same Gender romances issue, it shouldn't make any practical difference? The mod doesn't install on a modular per-romance basis, so if it's installed, it will include the Ashley files, and will override parts of FISH mod (namely the later-game ambient edit I mentioned). But Same Gender Romances will work as intended because it has priority.
If the suggestion is to remove the conflicting file from the other mod if it's not needed for a particular romance, then I'd be reluctant to add that to the description as I'm not the SRG dev and don't know whether removing that file could have wider ramifications. But thank you for the information. :)
To clarify, I'm not suggesting removing any files from either mod, just that users of SGR for ME3 may want to know which specific romance cause the minor conflict, because in addition to a FemShep/Ashley romance, SGR for ME3 allows FemShep/Tali and MaleShep/Thane romances, as well as an optional component to make James flirt with Shepard or not regardless of Shepard's gender. Hope this helps!
I'm sorry, I'm still not sure I understand how that would be useful since the mod always installs all the same files? So the conflict would be present regardless of which romance they planned to use - any use of the mod would cause the issue. But if you think it would be useful for people to have that information, I don't see a reason not to add it, so I will.
Excellent name for your mod! I'm still holding out hope that one day Backoff will work with PV3, but I'm greatly appreciative of your mod considering that day will likely never come.
Yeah, I gotta be honest, I don't see that day coming. But even beyond that, with no disrespect intended to BackOff (which is very impressive), it's also incompatible with a couple of other content mods and the dev has stated they won't ever be patched. Which is absolutely fine, patches are a lot of work and there are a ton of reasons devs might not support them. But I did think it was a shame that a quality of life tweak like this was only available as part of a fairly major game-wide overhaul. Even without compatibility issues, it's just not gonna be to some people's taste, and part of the great thing about mods is customising your experience.
To clarify, this mod's changes to Kelly are not as extensive or in-depth as BO's, which I think does things like introduce exclusivity requirements, etc. But this is hopefully a lite-weight alternative option if you don't want to use BackOff for whatever reason.
Yup, that's exactly what it does. She will show up in ME3 as long as she survived the suicide mission in ME2. As you know, BackOff does make similar changes, and has priority over this mod. But if you don't want to use BackOff and its much further-reaching overhaul, you can use this instead.
Awesome, thanks. Backoff isn't combatable with every mod I use, and I don't think I'd get much out of it anyway. So it's nice to have this instead to have Kelly in the game without needing to ho around with her.
Ever since Backoff had become incompatible with ProjectVariety and a compatibility patch is unlikely, I was a bit saddened that these minor changes/interactions would be gone, Thank you very much for allowing our favorite yeoman to be in the game regardless of our relationship to her, it was very stupid of bioware to only bring her back if romanced.
Oh dam ,when did that happen ? Good job you mentioned that i was just sorting out my mods to do a new play-through. So we have to drop Backoff from our mod manager if using ProjectVariety ?
Would be nice to have a 2020 list of mods that are ok to use together and those that might cause problems. Probably a tall order ,considering all the mods available across all the M.E games.
PV2 was compatible with backoff, that changed with PV3.
in the article section of the Project Variety mod there is a huge list with all the mods that are compatible or not with PV. Backoff is not compatible anymore.
Most mods usually have a compatibility section like that.
Yes! Finally you can see a proper send off for Kelly if you're not willing to flirt with your secretary. Thank you for this mod. I assume this mod is incompatible with Project Variety Extras that add custom clothing for Kelly?
It actually IS compatible with PV extras! I have tested that, Kelly's custom clothes appear no trouble. The game often loads assets across different package files, so this mod ships changes to the package that contains Kelly's dialogue, but doesn't touch her appearance.

Much appreciated.
Now we just need a mod so that she'll feed the fish in ME2 without flirting with her.

Also, you get the award for my favorite mod description.
And thanks. ;)
