I'm still not sure what Bioware was going for with his eye. Is it blind, synthetic? I went with natural heterochromia out of preference, but I could come up with another version if you have a different vision.=)
Zaeed says to Shepard 'Vido turned my men against me. He paid six of them to restrain me while he put a gun to my head and pulled the trigger'. So I've always assumed that the eye was blind due to physical trauma, but Zaeed doesn't move like he's part-blind, nor does he ever mention any difficulty. So, I guess that's just my personal assumption. If you're okay with creating another version, I'd say go whiter, an errie wolfish pale eye. Feel free to disregard though. :/ :)
I think what Bioware was originally going for is the milky appearance the cornea takes on when it is damaged. The cornea is the clear part of your eye that sits above the iris (the colored part). The transparency is caused by specialized, living cells. When the cornea is damaged, these cells can die and the result is a loss in transparency. The eye takes on a milky white color. You can google "blind eyes" to get an idea of what I'm talking about. The problem is that Bioware missed the mark. When the cornea takes on this milky color, you lose the definition of the pupil and the whole eye looks different. What they actually did is gave Zaeed a different colored iris, which isn't what would actually happen.
My personal headcannon for this is that Zaeed lost his eye in its entirety when he was shot, and was given a prosthetic. Because Zaeed would be more likely to frequent a black market surgeon than a reputable medical establishment, he ended up getting a prosthetic that wasn't expertly matched to his existing eye, which is why it looks different. Ellise, your retexture actually makes him look like this is what happened, since the iris of the eye looks normal, but a different (and slightly artificial) color.
As is typical for me, I overthought the whole thing to a ridiculous level. But, I'm in medicine so these types of things really stick out to me. Unless I can create a story for why they look like that, it kills immersion.
Very helpful, thank you both! I'll make a version with a truly blind eye when I have a minute. (And make sure to look up what they actually look like. Thanks wisegal.<3)
Before, Zaeed looked like his face had been taken apart with a hitertho unknown device and was then cobbled together from left-over pieces that never belonged to him in the first place, by a doctor of sorts of seriously suspicious repute. Now, he actually looks like someone who's been through the proverbial meat-grinder and lived to tell the tale after having been stitched-up by a no doubt desperate surgeon, but one who at least has a degree and knows his trade.
I always hated BW's textures for Zaeed's scars, kind of how seeing Kadan's hair from ME1 for the first time made me want to kill him even before Virmire... these almost make me want to hug his gravelly voice (and probably be chewed up to pieces in the process).
Thanks for improving this once-hated character of mine

Well done
