About this mod

This ReShade preset aims for making the game more vibrant but not extremely colorful with minimal performance impact.

Permissions and credits
This is a preset of ReShade I use on my laptop. And since my card is only a NVIDIA GTX950M, I need it to be (very) performance friendly.
I ran the game with resolution 1920x1080 and maximized other graphic setting (including spherical harmonic lighting) except for motion blurs with barely noticeable performance drop.

What the preset contains:
  • Just one, yes ONE, ReShade effect.
  • Minimal framerate drop (maybe about 1 fps on my laptop).
  • More contrast and color.
  • A bit bluish/greenish tint.

What the preset does NOT contains:
  • Big change on the color scheme.
  • FXAA or SMAA. (This is mainly to avoid performance impact. If you want them, you can add them yourself.)
  • Very bright white light in game. (Because charging into a biotic explosion would be blinding in this case, and the galaxy map is kind of hard to navigate.)

How to install:
  • Download ReShade 3.0.x on the official website.
  • Click on the downloaded executable file ReShade_Setup.
  • On the pop-up window, select the game executable(MassEffect3.exe in ...\Mass Effect 3\Binaries\Win32\), and select Direct3D 9.
  • When the window prompt to select the effects you want to download, make sure the Tonemap effect is ticked. (You can also download some other effects you want to add later, such as FXAA,etc. But notice that when launching the game, all effects you installed need to be loaded and the more effects you download, the longer it takes.)
  • Put the "Lightweight Reshade Preset.ini" you downloaded here into the ...\Mass Effect 3\Binaries\Win32\ folder. (The folder containing MassEffect3.exe)
  • Launch the game. (If the shader does not take effect or you want to change some properties, press Ctrl + F2 in game to bring up the ReShade setup menu.)
