Yes, it's me, crawling out of the woodwork to say that the reason I've been silent these past few years is because I lost all my modding files in a computer meltdown several years ago, and at this point I don't even remember HOW I made these mods, and the tools have continued to evolve to the point where if I tried, I'd have to learn all over again.
Since all the textures and meshes, etc, came from other modders, there is no need to ask me for permission to use them (track down the original author if you can and clear it with them.) I'd highly recommend waiting until AFTER Legendary Edition comes out, however, because God knows what that is going to do to our mods.
i came to this mod thinking that i could use one of these outfits to replace the ugly dress femshep wears in the casino in the citadel dlc. i couldn't find anyone in this thread talking about this, so i am sharing my notes on how i made this work! i'm sure this could be accomplished for any of the outfits here, but i specifically used the one with the black jeans and white button up shirt.
- download me3tweaks mod manager
- download the outfit that you want to use in this here mod
- extract the file for the outfit and navigate to FSCCasual - Jeans\DLC_CON_FSCCasualJeans\CookedPCConsole, here you will see a file called Default_DLC_CON_FSCCasualJeans.bin
- open me3tweaks mod manager and drag this .bin file to it
- you should now see a new folder under CookedPCConsole called Default_DLC_CON_FSCCasualJeans containing four XML files
- open the BioGame.xml file here in notepad and minimize that, we will come back to it later***
- navigate to Mass Effect 3\BIOGame\CookedPCConsole - this could be located in several different main folders depending on how you downloaded the game. i purchased the game through Origin, so my complete filepath is C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect 3\BIOGame\CookedPCConsole
- locate the file called Coalesced.bin and drag that to the me3tweaks mod manager window
- this will create a new folder at Mass Effect 3\BIOGame\CookedPCConsole\Coalesced
- open the BioGame.xml file here in notepad
- search for the section titled <Property name="casualappearances">
- the very last part of this section before </Property> will look like this <Value type="2">(Mesh=(Male="BIOG_HMM_ARM_CTH_R.CTHl.HMM_ARM_CTHl_MDL",Female="biog_hmf_arm_cth_r.CTHk.HMF_ARM_CTHk_MDL"),Id=9,PlotFlag=-1,Type=CustomizableType_Torso)</Value>
- change this section to this <Value type="2">(Mesh=(Male="BIOG_HMM_ARM_CTH_R.CTHl.HMM_ARM_CTHl_MDL",Female="BIOG_HMF_ARM_CTH_R_FSCJ.CTHm.HMF_ARM_CTHm_MDL"),Id=100,PlotFlag=-1,Type=CustomizableType_Torso)</Value>
- the information i pasted here came from the file we opened earlier*** therefore, if you are using a different outfit mod, the actual string here will look different. this string corresponds to the specific outfit and color i wanted to use. save the BioGame.xml file and close it. you can also close the first BioGame.xml file we opened from the outfit mod folders, i just wanted to show how i got this line to paste here in case you are using a different outfit
- in the folder Mass Effect 3\BIOGame\CookedPCConsole\Coalesced you will find a file called Coalesced.xml
- drag that file to the me3tweaks mod manager and it will create a Coalesced.bin file in that same folder. drag that new Coalesced.bin file to Mass Effect 3\BIOGame\CookedPCConsole\
- you will be asked if you want to overwrite, say yes! please note, you may want to backup your original Coalesced.bin file before you do this, in case you mess up and don't know how to backtrack
- the final piece is most important, and that is changing the actual file for that ugly dress!
- navigate back to the folder with the outfit mod files, in my case FSCCasual - Jeans\DLC_CON_FSCCasualJeans\CookedPCConsole
- find the file called BIOG_HMF_ARM_CTH_R_FSCJ.pcc and rename it to BIOG_HMF_ARM_CTH_R.pcc
- drag this file to Mass Effect 3\BIOGame\CookedPCConsole\
- you will be asked if you want to replace the file already in this folder, say yes. again, you might want to backup the original BIOG_HMF_ARM_CTH_R.pcc before doing this, in case you mess it up and need to backtrack. although, i think uninstalling an reinstalling the game will fix any number of issues you might cause from messing with game files :)
that should be it!! i wrote this at 2 in the morning so i might have made a mistake i'm not aware of, but this worked for me. so if something in these instructions is not working for you, please let me know!!
Thanks!, it worked for me, but I'm going to clarify one of the steps First you have to make a copy of the file "BIOG_HMF_ARM_CTH_R_FSCJ.pcc", rename that copy to "BIOG_HMF_ARM_CTH_R.pcc" and then drag it to "Mass Effect 3\BIOGame\CookedPCConsole\" Because if you just rename and drag that file the game crashes when you select the appearance
Followed instructions, mod seems to add a ton of casual options that don't exist and immediately crash my game, any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.
I love this mod but recently the new outfit only shows up during the first cutscene. As soon as I can control Shep and start the mad dash to the Normandy, it changes back to the default outfit. Never done that before. Anyone else have this issue?
wondering if anyone else has tried to get one of the other "casual" outfits to show during the intro? i actually used descriptions of this mod in a 'fic i'm writing, and i'd love to have the Helena white shirt/vest/pinstripe pants as my intro outfit. wondering how very much i could screw up my play-through trying to get it to work. LOL
edited to add: i realized that it wouldn't have a 'dirty' mode if i switched it out; i'd have to texture that in. GAH.
Hey! I'm having an issue where when i load up the game, it still pops up saying that the Femshep Intro replacement DLC is unauthorized. I put both .dll folders where they should be as well as the DLCCON one so i'm not sure what's happening? Any help is appreciated!
this is just my very poor understanding, but you *might* have to run auto-TOC? i usually install every mod EXCEPT texture mods first, using the mod manager MSTweaks, and then after i mod the textures, i'll reinstall ONE of my prior mods (usually something pretty safe like Urz on the Normandy) to get Tweaks to run Auto-TOC again.
