I noticed today that Spectre Expansion Mod has reached its 10,000th unique user! This is utterly outstanding to me, and I'm thrilled that so many players have downloaded the mod, especially in light of the fact that it is a sub-mod for EGM -and- almost entirely text-based.
For many years I've harboured the slim hope that one day I would see my writing published somewhere. I have always wanted to write stories that people would invest themselves in, to create tales that give people some hope or joy, perhaps with some difficult decisions along the way. I started this mod because my own creative works had reached a brick wall, so I started writing a mod for my favourite video game series. Soon after I released the first edition of Spectre, I'll be the first to admit that it was quite an emotional experience. There was a mixture of relief that I had finally published something and a fear that no-one would download it, or worse, download it and say how poor my creative skills were.
To this day, every release has that fear, but almost unanimously I am faced with excitement and joy from players who have played the mod, with requests for more content and eagerness to play whatever patch is to come, even before I announce one!
All I can say to each and every one of you who supported the mod, and who taught me to make this mod, is thank you.
Oh.
And I can also say that Spectre Expansion Mod will leave beta in November. I'm sure you can deduce the release date. :D
