Everybody is welcome to request any other model for Male & Female Shepard for me to upload! It only takes a few minutes to do! I intend to consolidate all requests by race, so finding any other Krogan requests can be done here on Wrex's page.

Creating a male or female Shepard with any model!

Now that this mod has shown you what ini file to mess around with you need two things!
    1. What line of the file changes the player model?
    2. How do I find model names to change to?

    1. Use Ctrl+F and enter "Actor". Hit Enter twice to get to the lines describing m_FemaleActorType and m_MaleActorType. The text following the = sign is what must be replaced to give you the new model!

    2. Finding the model names is trickier. Use the wonderful Mass Effect INI Modder mod here on the Nexus to find the list of models! Under the "BIOGame" Tab there is a complete list of models both female and male only under the Male Shepard model replacer drop-down menu. All you need to do is
    A) Select your preferred model under Male Shepard's drop-down.
    B) Save to ini (bottom-right of tool)
[If you want to play Male Shepard, then you don't need to do anything else. This is simply how you use the tool as intended by the tool's creator]
    C) Open the BioGame.ini file in your documents
    D) Find the m_maleActorType= section and copy the text after the = sign.
    E) Paste it after m_femaleActorType={>HERE<} and save the file. It may ask you to rename it, which is simple. Remember to delete the old BioGame.ini and rename your new one to BioGame.ini.
    F) Launch the game.

      NOTES:
      - You'll know if you messed up if the launch screen takes a million years. Usually just a spelling error!
      - When creating a Shepard, it is ideal to use Quick-Start Shepards because customized Shepards faces sometimes appear overtop of the model's face you're attempting to use.
      - Many models have issues such as taking cover, moving without guns, using guns, or performing any animations. However, if all you care about are cutscenes, then almost every model works wonderfully!
      - Using the console command "teleport" is helpful when moving without a gun on models where it is difficult.
      - If you are not playing a party member then sometimes there are combat issues. Your name will not show up on the bottom left HUI with your health bar, and sometimes your abilities won't go off until a few moments after activating them.
      - Also sometimes you're invincible
      - The camera in this game follows where normal Shepard WOULD be, so some camera angles won't work for some models (like volus for example. You just won't see the character unless it is zoomed out far enough).

While that is hilarious, the fix to this issue is to have your Shepard head be the Quick-Select one, not a custom one unfortunately.

Very unlikely since the tools I used don't recognize the LE version of the game

So when does the change take effect? Because I chose to quick-start male Shepard and he still looks the same.

Nevermind I have figured out my problem. Everything was done correctly but when the game starts it rewrites that line for changing the default Shepard's model into the human type again. So what I did was set the BIOGame file from the downloaded folder as "Read Only" that way the game doesn't rewrite anything from it and leaves it as it is!

Huh that's super strange! I've never seen that happen in any of my tests!
Although, that does make sense. I take advantage of the rewriting process to revert it back to vanilla myself, by deleting that file the game remakes it as human shepards which is quite handy.

I'd like to play as Rana Thanoptis, but if her model doesn't work well with weapons, Asari commando would be nice for FemShep.
For male Shepard, the Spectre Nihlus is someone I always wanted more in the game... He appears for only like two scenes!

OH WAIT, WILL THE HANAR WORK?! Playing as Blasto would be... a blast... yeah, I'll bring myself out.

      Hahahah, hilarious

Sure, I'll playtest Rana, the Commando, and Nihilus for you and make a separate "Play as Asari mod" and "Play as Turian" mod to place those under. I'll send you a message. Should have it for today/tomorrow.

Thanks for being my first request and comment, ever!

They're all uploaded and tested! Just go to my Play as ____ mod to find them!

Rana works just fine I believe
Asari Commando works fine if you can pull her gun out. On the Normandy however, I recommend using "teleport" console commands to move around and orient yourself.
Nihlus is the opposite. He works fine out of combat, but has little-to-no combat functionality. Biotics work (but are a few seconds late), but no guns.

I didn't upload the Hanar but the Hanar actually works surprisingly well. If you put on a run-fast mod, then the Hanar is perfectly fine. In combat and out functionality, biotics work, and all.

Let me know if you want a file that is like FemShep = Asari, MShep = Turian.

(Also in case you're curious, Garrus and Liara would work perfectly well in game in case you want them uploaded as well).
