I tried to reinstall all of my mods after the game gave me the black screen. I deleted the toc.bak folder and ran the modding tool as an admin. However, since I've done that, I get that "object reference" text for the actual application and for my Microsoft .NET Framework files. I've figured how to fix the framework problems but not the actual SMPC Tool getting the object reference text. NOW, MY GAME WON'T EVEN LOAD UP AND WHEN I TRY TO RUN IT, IT JUST CRASHES. Please help me as I haven't even finished the game yet.

Edit: Game will now start (forgot to verify game file integrity.) but the mods won't even load.

Does anybody know if an update is going to come out to fix the issue? I see the post about going into game files but i'm really new to all this and don't feel comfortable messing with the files of a game.

Same thing, I feel that's a temporary fix, I don't feel comfortable messing with the game files.

Agreed we really need a proper fix that's reliable, seeing as the current "fix" isn't very consistent.

To fix the modding tool after an update:

    1. Go to the root folder of Spider Man Remastered

    2. Delete every file and folder EXCEPT for the folder named:
    asset_archive

3.Go into the asset archive folder, and delete the files named:
    toc
    toc.BAK

4.Go into the root folder of the Mod Manager, and delete the file named:
    assetArchiveDir

5.Go onto steam, go to the game’s settings, then select properties, then select the local files section, and press:
    Verify Integrity Of Game Files…

6.After it’s done verifying the files, open the mod manager, and set up the archive directory again.

You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.  Your comment should be pinned as it seems to work every time, it's worked for that last two updates for me at least.  Thank you for your insight and being a major asset to our community. Props respect.

Right when you open the folder marked: SpiderManPCTool v1.1.1-51-v1-1-1-1660951619
click into the folder and there will be a text document labeled AssetArchiveDir, delete that, then set the directory again under asset archive wherever you saved the main Spider-Man Game.

      Hope this helps.

I'm not gonna lie. Why the F would you create a moddding tool, then not include a simple "how-to" for the installation and basic usage so that users can "at least" install mods? Instead you want them to go to a 3rd party application (Discord).

    HELL

even a simple README file included with the ZIP archive would be enough. But Discord??? Why??

If your argument is "if people are too lazy to join Discord or stupid to figure it out, then they shouldn't use my tool" then you're a narcissistic piece of shit.

He's not a nutjob, he's just speaking the truth slightly aggressively. Banning feedback is pathetic, if you dont want it then disable comments.

After deleting toc files, downloading other people's toc files didn't work, I realized that if you remove the .BAK text from it, it works.
