This typically happens when there's some issue with save files, I'm not sure entirely what causes or what fixes this. However, what I did to get around that was completely delete any saves that I had and then just did a fresh playthrough on easy mode to give myself access to NG+ again. Since then, each suit I've installed has worked without crashing the game.
