Sorry, that seems to be a built in game mechanic. You can only seem to swing from solid objects and or specified objects in the game's coding. Most objects outside of the border aren't solid.
you can either press pause and select photo mode, or in the settings enable quick photo mode toggle and it will map it to either left or right on the d pad i cant remember. then in photo mode change the camera type to selfie
Yeah, and it's all fake lol. Pretty much everything outside of the play area can't be walked on. And the cars on the bridge go far enough so you can't see them, then they float in the air and go back
