Since I've recently been playing again (and I know others are as well since we all have to wait til 2025 or whatever for SM2) I've been thinking about what I could replace as part of a surprise update, but haven't come up with anything. I try to only use ads that are appropriate to the autumn 2018 setting.
If you play the Miles Morales expansion, make sure to download the version for that as well ;)
see normally i would never get a mod like this cause no offense but why would i want a random ad in my game but lucky for you i have an unhealthy obsession with mr robot
I put a lot of work into looking for appropriate, relevant, well-designed ads that have actually been on display in NYC and did my best to recreate them. All of the media ads are for media that was out approximate to the autumn 2018 setting of the game. This mod is less about the ads and more about creating a more immersive and true-to-life feeling of New York City, for those like me who love the city. What's more iconic than giant Coca-Cola ads in Time's Square?
The only thing I intentionally used despite coming out after 2018 was the updated Burger King branding, just because it works much better for the format.
And yeah I love Mr. Robot too. Make sure you get the Miles Morales version too if you play that ;)
Hello, I searched for comments and did not find an answer to my question. If I missed it, I apologize. Is it possible to find a list of all the billboards in the game somewhere? I want to add my pictures, but I am very poorly versed in the program. In a few hours of searching, I found only a few of the necessary files. But they don't want to change either.
There is no comprehensive list and unfortunately it would be far too time consuming for me to make one from my own files. You should join the modding discord, you will find help there learning how to edit textures.
The vanilla ads are static as are these. They will stay in place throughout the game except during the Devil's Breath outbreak when Time's Square displays all change.
Note that by static I mean they will remain in place. If a vanilla ad was animated, e.g. the Couture ads, the animated soda ads, etc, then I have kept them animated in the mod.
Ahh ok so they work exactly like the Vanilla ones, why did i had a feeling they would change the more you progress in the game, when i say change i don't mean animation i mean they change into a completely different ad, or am i imagining things, i have not played the game since launch planning on replaying again so i am looking at mods to download
Hi, awesome work. I was wondering maybe you could tell me how I open a .texture file to make some sign changes of my own. I have found some sign textures and extracted them using SMPC, but GIMP gives me "Unknown File Type". I did some modding in Starfield with .dds files, but not sure how to to it here. amazing. not even one mod works. i installed the mod tool and everything and everytime i load the game its just all vanilla. these mods just will not work....

What are the name of the files (which are the Osborn ads that I can't find in the SMPC tool files) that the Frozen ads are replacing? Just for modding purposes
Could you please upload a version that keeps "Aristocratic Mind" and "Views from the Veranda"? Just for Story Continuity, as they'are mentioned in Spidey's "Social Media" in-game.
One of the few Mods which breathes life into the game. Though I would like to have 1 or 2 ads of my own, is the any chance I could track the game files your smpcmod mod file replaces? It'll be a huge time saver 😀
How are you dealing with bg lod files? I extracted some Chinatown Signs, they come with _n _bg _mask etc. I can use photoshop but i'm not sure what role those files play. Could you shed some light here?
I'm going to refer to the animated Ambroche sign in Time's Square in this example.
Certain signs, especially animated signs, are made of multiple files. The Ambroche sign for example has:
bg file: the bubbles/circles c file: the guy and the logo mask file: isolates the guy and logo from the background lod file: a non-animated version of the sign which loads at a distance
The mask file tells the game how the sign will be animated. Note the different colors: red masked elements will sit in place, and green masked elements will fade in and out. The colors and what they do depends on the original sign, watch how they animate in game and it'll be easy to determine
In the Ambroche sign, the background scrolls horizontally. So the mask file isolates the guy and the logo from the background, allowing the bg image to scroll behind them.
So let's say I would like to change the font of a Banner, Let's take Amborche for example. I make Green & Red mask accordingly to the font I choose. Would it work or result in conflict with the game? Location remains the same like for ex (center) but the font is changed so height/width would be slighty different.
