Crime and Police AI Rebalance



Minor offenses - brandishing or shooting a firearm, speeding, running a red light, car accidents, harassing pedestrians, breaking car windows, stealing vehicles, sidewalk driving

Major offenses
- aiming gun at police, assaulting an officer, injuring or killing civilians, carrying a dead body, reckless driving resulting in death

There are five levels of being wanted by the police:

Level 1 -  The police begin to pursue Lincoln, attempting to ram his car. The police will draw their weapons and attempt to arrest him. If caught, they will knock him to the ground if the player does nothing.




Level 2 - Multiple police patrol units on foot will open fire on Lincoln. However, they won't be firing their weapons out their windows at him.
Level 3 to 4 - The police density increases. The police and swat units will make any attempt to stop Lincoln.
Level 5 - The police density further increases, with an increased amount of police, swat and military chasing Lincoln.


 
AI improvements:

  • The enemies will investigate the area when they hear or see panicked civilians.
  • If an enemy hears your whistle, he will alert other nearby enemy npcs making stealth more challenging.
  • The police will call for backup when they discover a dead or unconscious body.
  • Enemies and cops have improved accuracy.
  • Enemy NPCs have faster reactions.
  • Enemies will not call out when they are throwing grenades.
  • Panicked pedestrians will not randomly dive off of the pavement.



Gameplay changes:


  • Marcano's henchmen are equipped with better firearms.
  • NBPD officers wear different types of uniforms.
  • Some Shopkeepers are armed and can be hostile towards the player
  • A brutal takedown on an enemy will only briefly stun any nearby enemies who witness the event.
  • More visible gunshot wounds
  • Rebalanced weapons stats. It's more satisfying to shoot the guns.
  • Bullet tracers and smoke trails have been removed.
  • Random enemy patrols.
  • Improved sights (no scope overlay).
  • Reduced the amount of damage needed in each racket by 50%.
  • NPCs are more likely to react to pain when they take damage.
  • Realistic guns and ammo management (you have to find 9 mm ammo if you have a 9mm gun).

Installation:
Required: Mafia III: Definitive Edition

1. Go to the main game directory (default steam location - C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Mafia III Definitive Edition)
2. Replace all files (it's highly recommended to backup them first).
