Love this mod, bro... Doesn't need a reshade or anything. The color/graphics is great. All you need is to change the setting in Nvidia or AMD setting (improved graphics).
Sharpening Image = 80% or 0.8 Anti-Aliasing = Override App Setting = 8X Anisotropic Filtering = Enabled = 16X Skies mods = https://www.nexusmods.com/mafia3/mods/89?tab=files or https://www.nexusmods.com/mafia3/mods/75 (they are the same) Ingame Setting = ALL HIGH + 1080, 2K, OR 4K RESOLUTION
ps. I also edited some color grading to make it Balanced colorful and realistic + remove film grain. better than MAFIA 1 DE.

Thanks for the tip on Sharpening. Took me a sec to find it in the Nvidia settings. For anyone else, it's under 'Image Scaling' For me 80% was a tad much so I set it to 70% I didn't enable any other settings in there.
This amazing mod combined with Nvida Sharpening at 70% looks just as good as with Reshade imho. And it's a lot less effort to get it to work and uses less resources I think. With no sharpening, the mod alone brought the colour back but it was still somewhat blurry like the original game.
Can you help me understand better how you achieved your graphic settings? You mentioned at first you only needed this mod and the nvidia settings changed. But then by the end of the post mention how you added a skies mod, a edited color grade + remove film grain too, can you please tell me how you achieved the other settings and how to apply them? I went to the skies mod you linked but didn't know whether to use the optional DynamicFX file or just the old time reality mod or both? I have no clue how to remove film grain or edit color grade as well the way you did.
Is it possible to edit this file to disable Anti-Aliasing in the game altogether? The game appears to use TAA (Temporal Anti-Aliasing), which causes ghosting, and I absolutely can't stand ghosting or motion blur.
I can use ReShade to inject all sorts of Anti-Aliasing shaders (SMAA, CMAA2, FXAA, etc) so I prefer to disable in-game AA these days and just use ReShade.
The only way to disable TAA in mafia1DE or Mafia3 is to use a crude DX11 wrapper, i didnt even save the link for it because the fps hit on it was so bad it just wasn't a viable solution. Even the author of the fix stated this.
And im a person that doesnt care about weird visual distortion in favor of disabling AA, but this.. was bad.
When you sucesfully disable TAA, you immediately understand why it was there to begin with. the real state of the game becomes evident, and the use of such a strong blur starts to make sense. The games pixels literally vibrate in place. Its bizzarre. The game shimmers, even standing still. Like the pixels vibrate. I've never seen anything like it before. Its like a game in motion while my controller is on the table? Wtf. You can actually observe this phenomenom in the default game if you look closely enough, but the TAA hides it for the most part
And you lose FPS and it crashes after like 5 minutes. Its crude.
Its crazy how hard it is to disable TAA in some of these newer games. It reminds me of that controversial birth control method documentary with the mesh wire birth control that would get fused into womans vaginas and the doctors would have to literally remove their entire vagina to get it out again
Someone made a mod for Mafia III to disable TAA, which includes a few replacement shaders to resolve issues caused by disabling TAA. The game looks much better without the TAA, and the performance is fine. https://www.nexusmods.com/mafia3/mods/94
There's a similar mod for the remake of Mafia if I remember right, but I haven't played that game.
hey, love your mod, but I'd like to merge it with some other mods, so could you please specify file/s INSIDE the "postprocess.sds" file was modified / removed? thanks a lot
I'm seriously blown away by this mod. So many mods have to use reshade, or other third parties and there always seems to be a performance hit. This mod completely remastered the game with no sacrifice. It was so simple to replace the file, great notepad, and I can't thank you enough for making this feel like a brand new game.

Wish I could figure out where they keep engine config for this game.
