   For everyone having error "Please insert Mafia CD 1" please mount your Mafia CD 1 Rom with poweriso, daemon tools or ultraiso and the game will run fine. This is due to the fact that the mod is made for Retail 1.0 version of the game so its noCD patch still requires Disk 1 to be mounted in order to play. So in short :
   1. Install original Mafia 1 disk version
   2. Install the no cd crack
   3. Copy the mod to install directory
   4. Mount your Mafia CD 1
   
   Play!!!

   How can I downgrade to the 1.0 version? Haven't found anything that actually tells me.

      I wanted the same thing. What I did to make this mod work was not using the gog version but the original disk version with fixed crack. You can find it easily on internet archive or any abandonware site. Then apply this mod. It works perfectly.

   game runs fine, just still the same crap camera, nothing changed.
   
   nevermind, was 2 game exes, replacing the one in mafia/mafia just gives me an error.

      Please read the sticky post! You have to mount the original CD 1 in order to play with the mod

   yea ive downgraded my steam version of the game to 1.0 and when i launch game it says insert disc 1....

   Why only for the 1.0 version? why not the GOG version as well? what a shame.

      GoG version is not compatible with many mods and it also have issues not present in the original version like no eye animations and missing car scratches and decals. It can be done, yes but I simply prefer the original superior version

      Maybe you're using the gog version. The mod states in description that it's for retail 1.0 disk version. Try installing that one and then apply the mod. Mine works that way

       What do you mean? I think it's already non drm patched version. It works for me on version 1.0
