About this mod

My attempt to improve Tiger while completely failing to keep to the theme this time (or successfully, depending on whether or not you agree with how I see things).

In 19XX, the world was engulfed in nuclear fire... The earth cracked, the seas dried up, all life was extinguished... BUT... HUMANITY HAS NOT DIED OUT!!

Ok enough of that... Here's where I normally say I tried to improve Tiger while sticking to the theme and design as close as possible but... while that was how it started out, I unfortunately (or fortunately) had a massive flash of insight when wondering what the hell to do with Hakkei (aka Flux Fissure) and realized that, effectively, it's a similar thing to Fist of the North Star and it's channelling of energy and such. One thing led to another and this 'improvement' mod became pretty much a Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise move import showcase.

It still somewhat fits the overall intent of Tiger, with it being the most powerful style of the 4. Tiger originally is some variant of Baji Quan style of Kung Fu while Snake was basically bastardized Wing Chun. Snake ultimately became the 'Kung Fu' style, so Tiger is now the more way out there Kung Fu style since, well, Hokuto Shinken is basically Kung Fu focused on striking pressure points/hikou, just with a way over the top fantasy edge on it.

So! I regret nothing! I'm sticking with this theme because, honestly? I had a LOT of fun modifying this style out of all 4. If you do decide to use this I hope you enjoy it as well. If you don't, well, sorry not sorry.

What's new/changes:

  • Hakkei (Flux) is now comboable from almost anything, and no longer requires a 'hit' to land. It will also connect with juggled targets so long as they are reasonably near the ground. You still need to actually hit the button with the right timing for max damage. I could have removed this and made it do max damage no brainer each time but I refuse to make it that mindless except for some special circumstances. Got to make you, the player, actually work for some damage after all. Comboing into Hakkei from the default light attacks is done by simply holding S after the attack, and you will need to RELEASE the button with the correct timing for max damage. All default stock Tiger moves can combo into Hakkei.
  • Kenshiro's backhand jab has been added as an extra attack has been added to the very start of Yagami's normal attack string, so it now has 5 attacks total instead of 4. This is because the default Tiger string first attack has a relatively slow'ish start. This new start gives Yagami more step in distance and the ability to 'poke' with this style instead of having to switch to Boxer.
  • Default Heavy attack is still the twin upkicks, but has now been made into a launcher with far far faster landing recovery and allows following up with either S or O into combos, or you can keep tapping T for a short combo similar to the Snake jump kick combo.
  • Default forward step attack has been replaced with a launching kick.
  • Default counter has been replaced with Kenshiro's gut blow counter, which no longer ragdolls but causes a launch instead, and the counter can be followed up from with S or O or T combos. Due to it's significantly increased utility, the damage has been halved as a trade off.
  • Dragon Fist and Tiger Drop have been added to L2+T and L2+O respectively when NOT in Ex Boost. Now you can have both moves in this style on demand so you can be DISGUSTINGLY BROKENLY OVERPOWERED TOTALLY FAIR AND BALANCED! ? In all seriousness they're just here for the hell of it as it'd feel wrong to remove them from Tiger style. If you don't like it just don't use it. Both moves are also completely identical and neither is more powerful than the other. The difference is purely visual.
  • A lot of new combos added. The finishing hit on the new combos has a very significant amount of hitstop/slowdown added deliberately. This is so you have time to choose a combo ender. When the slowdown happens, press S, T, or O to pick your combo finisher.
  • New SO... combo = Kenshiro's basic string from FOTNS Lost Paradise. Purely grounded combo.
  • New SSO... combo = Kenshiro's alternate combo string with heavy finishes mixed in. Has a built-in launch at the the halfway mark.
  • New SSSO... combo = New combo utilizing Toki's moves with some modification. This combo has a lot of forward travel and is ideal for comboing out of a mob, or juggling. Purely grounded combo but can be used after a manual launch.
  • New SSSSO... combo = New combo utilizing Raoh's moves with some modification. Has a built-in launcher at the halfway mark.
  • New ender for the full SSSSS default string. Tap O at the end to finish with a max Hakkei. This one does NOT need you to time the button press.
  • New followups: All the default Finish Blows now allow you to combo into Hakkei by pressing S at any time. You will need to time the button PRESS, not RELEASE. Timing the release is only for comboing from the light attack strings as the activation there is to HOLD Square.
  • Ex Boost: New O... combo = Hokuto Senretsukyaku. Keep tapping O to extend the number of kicks. Tap S, T or O after the final hit to pick a finisher.
  • Ex Boost: New S... combo = Hokuto Hyakuretsuken (AAAAAAATATATATATATATAH!). Keep tapping S to extend the number of punches. Tap S, T or O after the final hit to pick a finisher. The Hakkei finish from this combo does NOT require you to time the FIRST button press, but all the followup Hakkei DO need you to time it. Purely grounded combo, and honestly, don't try to juggle with this one. It's intended to be used on the ground.
  • Ex Boost: Hold L2 and tap S = Tenshou Honretsu aka Raoh's signature beam attack (or as close as I could get it anyway...)
  • Ex Boost: Hold L2 and tap L1 = Musou Tensei activation. Yagami will flash with different aura colors of his opponents. If you do nothing the move simply ends. While the activation pose is going, tap O quickly. After the activation pose Yagami will launch into a series of moves. Every single move here is unblockable, launches, and causes Stun and Agony. Yagami is completely invincible and unhittable, as is canon for the technique. The combo will loop infinitely (as it does in FOTNS: Lost Paradise) until you run out of Ex gauge. You can tap T at any time to exit the move with an AoE stun blast which is my weak take on Raoh's death pose "WAGA SHOUGAI NI IPPEI KUI MO NASHI!!" (In my life, I, Raoh, leave not a single regret!) using resources in the game.

This took me a lot of time to make but I honestly had a lot of fun making it as, if you haven't guessed, I'm a huge fan of Fist of the North Star. I hope some of you at least will enjoy this 'improvement' mod. These changes easily make Tiger arguably the most powerful of all the 4 styles which, IMO, is what the devs intended.

V1.1
Fixed a few hitbox bugs and an animation related bug with Hokuto Hyakuretsuken. Musou Tensei has been completely reworked to be more juggle friendly and normalized the damage across all moves so it's not so horrendously busted, it's busted OP enough as is. I should also make a note here that Hokuto Hyakuretsuken has a LOT of hits, the looped part of the move if you mash Square does 18 hits, and the entire move is 18 frames long. 1 frame is 16.67ms, that's MILLISECONDS. On top of that it has a LOT of particle and flash effects, so I'm officially declaring it NSFP. Not Safe For Potatoasters™. If your PC can't handle the move, sorry, totally not my problem.

Also with this, all 4 styles are done! Next, I will be going back and fixing bugs in all the other styles and revisiting Crane as sadly, that one being the first mod after Boxer (which had very few imported moves as it honestly did not need them at all), suffered from my lack of move import knowledge at the time. I'll be beefing up Crane a bit and then fixing bugs.
