Trust and believe when when I say that I like this mod a whole lot. I didn't necessarily think that base Loop Hero was easy, but once I mastered the game it really felt like a cakewalk when it came to later files. Which sucks considering the fact that I REALLY love Loop Hero as a game. This mod adds a nice hardcore factory that really makes you think about your resource management and such when it comes to building upgrades and crafting. I've managed to beat the Lich twice but I have yet to even SEE the second boss yet. It's definitely not for the faint of heart.
That being said, I will say the only REAL compliant I have for this mod is Dark Slimes. It's not like they appear out of nowhere, I've long since learned how they spawn. But the fact that they are literally impossible to kill since they regenerate all their health after every hit just makes it a slow guaranteed expedition ender. I've only managed to kill one ONCE and that was because of the retaliation damage from warrior's helmets, but that can't be a surefire counter to kill them since Retaliation Damage ONLY is for the warrior. I'm truly at a loss to deal with them, and I'm only really typing this now after playing this mod for a good while. I'm not sure if you still check these, but if you could just give ANY help on when it comes to killing Dark Slimes so I don't lose my rare actually winnable expeditions it'd be a great help, because there's not even anything like that in the manual either. I heavily appreciate it.
oh, i love these new dark slimes! you can easily kill them with warrior or rogue, if you stack pure damage a bit. It's a huge jumpstart if i pull oblivion in early loop (2-3) and summon them, full hand of card as revard is no joke. Just equip all pure damage you have and kill it easily. With necro though, is a problem, only pure damage he has is upgraded skele and skele mage. I even see it oneshoted by storm temple lightning once. Overall, problem is there though. There is way too many enemies that require a lot of pure damage, making warrior and rogue unplayable witout forest\storm cards. Ruins worms, graveyard skeles, dark slime, lich. Way too tanky imho.
I remember beating loop hero with relative ease the first time around but man am I struggling hard with this mod. I can barely accumulate resources. I managed to kill lich once but I made the foolish decision to consume my boss drop resource and can't seem to do it again so I can't unlock rogue lol.
I just feel as though I can never get strong enough to safely last more than 5-6 loops. 7th is almost always death even if I think I have good gear.
I have no idea if you even check this any more, but how exactly are you supposed to beat the Lich? Even if you Oblivion all of his palaces, he still spawns with like 2500hp and does like 360 damage a hit. And you locked a bunch of buildings that might help behind having at least one boss skull, so you can't even try to get those advantages. And certain things either don't drop, or are incredibly hard to try to farm, in the first loop. Nevermind that you can only get 10 resources max and certain upgrades that you could try to get cost like 40+. So... is he bugged? Or are you supposed to go to like loop 40 before you can even have a hope of killing him? Not sure what gives, here.
Hey. Sry to hear that you're having problems with the Lich, but it's to be expected. It is a hardcore mod after all. Every boss was changed in a way to have specific strengths and weaknesses that you HAVE TO exploit in order to have a chance. They are universe ending servants of God, of course you can't just use your standard builds that worked in vanilla and expect to win in hardcore. Each boss requires a different stat focus in your builds, which means you have to specialize your runs to beat the bosses (at least when you first encounter them).
For the Lich specifically, he has a LOT of defense (visible, if you hover your cursor over him in battle). When you look closely, his animation when he gets hit shows he uses a force field to shield himself. That's a hint at what you have to do. Pure damage is the stat you want to focus on, as it ignores defense. Also, evasion helps massively against his slow attacks. There's also a special card that just obliterates him regardless of your build, but I won't spoil that. If you still need further advice, please feel free to ask.
EDIT: And yes, I deliberately locked some upgrades behind killing the first boss, to teach players that they have to be versatile with the classes they have available and that every class has a chance. I and many other players have beaten this hardcore mod. It is completely beatable. It's just... hard.
EDIT2: Btw, you do not want to go to loop 40, as the enemy scaling means that enemies get progressively harder, the deeper you are into a run. That was the case in vanilla and is even more the case in NG+. This means you want to spawn and kill the boss as early as possible. It also means that you might want different loadouts for boss kill runs and farm runs where you don't spawn the boss.
Heya! not the OP, but I would appreciate a bit more guidance in beating the Lich :D I do like the rebalancing, but I am just a bit sad I am unable to at least unlock the rogue class (that I vastly prefer to warrior). Is there any way you could share some spoilers into the DMs? :) thanks!
special card?! As in placing a card or are you talking about the items you put in town like the mirror or something? I don't recall there being a card that specifically beat lich in vanilla or im i forgetting something.
Hey man you made a really cool hardcore mod for this game.I'm playing it with pleasure. I want to say thank you because the vanilla version really lacked hardcore.I'd like to offer you a couple of little tricks for your mod if you don't mind. For exampleThat when you put the mouse cursor over a mountain or a rock in their description there would be a line like this (total rocks and mountains "their total number").and let's say there was information about how many more of them need to be placed before the goblin camp appears. When there are a lot of mountains on the map it's hard to count them. You can do the same with villages(total villages "their total number") (1 more village before the looters appear)And so on.Thanks again for the mod with it the game feels as it should.
Hey dude, thankyou alot for making this mod i downloaded it in December and its breathed new life into this game for me, i found it very difficult the first few runs, but quickly understood how things were different and even though its much harder its a much more rewarding experience that makes me come back and grind it out after i already have over 100 hours in it, please dont make this mod less difficult then it is, because its not really hardcore its just not casual, you need to think about each run carefully and plan ahead, if anyones having difficulty i strongly suggest you go for resource runs until you get rogue, warrior has very fun builds in this, but rogue is best for early game progesssion and farming up all the supply items you need and resources for your base Thank you so much for making this mod and continuing to work on it, your making someones day!
TLDR - Mod make game better then ever, play mod only if you understand game first, Love you dev!
Got the game again did a full run vanilla then checked your mod It's really difficult; I've beat the lich but struggle to gather ressource, at least I feel every upgrade in the camp as a real reward Also good job with the levels and the skill revamp, i'm still with the warrior, but eventually I'll get a look to the rogue and necro
