About this mod

(This beta version is made to gauge public opinion, should a finished version be made, it will be for Workshop)
Introduces 1 new reception taking place in Impuritas.

Requirements
Permissions and credits
Upon hearing the Proselytes' idle chatter, Alma's monstrous form shuffles deeper into the dark alleys of District 12's Backstreets. She found a way out for him.

VERY IMPORTANT: This mod is currently in a beta state, however, all that's missing is character art, attack animations, card art, and story cutscenes. The gameplay has been thoroughly play tested for balancing and debugging, although some bugs may remain uncaught. This mod was made before the Steam Workshop integration dropped, and was discontinued for a long time, due to my personal circumstances and many unfortunate happenings aligning at once. I am releasing this version to see if the community wants it to be continued. I never made this mod for myself, this isn't some kind of edgy OC I wanted to insert into PM's universe. This mod, and the story that accompanies it, were products of me wanting to leave something for the community to enjoy. Therefore, feedback is everything. If you would want the mod to be finished, if you find a bug, if you find certain gameplay aspects unbalanced, drop me a comment on the Posts section. My entire reason for making this version public is to gauge whether or not it's worth it to finish the project.

Changelog:

0.9.1:
- Slightly nerfed Echelon's Order: Develop and Echelon's Order: Guard.
- Reduced the amount of HP & SR healed by Remedial Fabric by 10 to shorten the length of the 2nd Act.

0.9.2:
- Fixed a bug where Alma would be stuck during the final scripted segment of the fight.
- Rather than keeping Act 2 unwinnable if the Patron Librarian dies, I've made it more clear by making it so that Act 2 is immediately lost when the Patron dies.

Reception Information:

Books required (just in case the map icon doesn't show up, but it should be on the left, one node above Hana Association):
Book of an Index Proselyte, Book of Hubert, Book of Something

Availability:
This reception is available right after Hana Association is completed. However, it is balanced around the usage of Ensemble pages (base game ones, not my Ensemble, though you can certainly use them if you want, I won't gatekeep how anyone enjoys the game lmao). Hopefully the node being in line with the Ensemble's map node should visually explain it.

Difficulty aimed:
I don't plan for this reception to be too hard, however, it should still pose a challenge. Playtesting has proven that it can be consistently beaten on any floor and several builds. If there's any feedback you want to give regarding the difficulty, it's always welcomed.

Notes on Content/Rewards:
- 1 Paperback Key Page, 2 Hardcover Key Pages, 1 Limited Key Pages & 2 Objet D'Art Key Pages are available as Key Page rewards
- Key page stories are all included.
- All Combat pages that are available as rewards have their stats and effects completely unchanged from the reception itself. I've made it a rule to design Combat pages to be balanced for both enemies and librarians at the same time.
- There is no special reward-gaining method, they drop from books, which drops from enemies, as usual.

General tips (Feel free to skip over if you want to experience the reception blindly):
- Many hard-hitting Ranged attacks are available, Argalia's Page proves very useful.
- The fight has a 5v7 1st Act and a 5v16 2nd Act (don't be alarmed, I've modified tons of factors to your favor to make it comfortable to play). Mass team debuffs and mass attacks are very effective (Though they do have some form of Mass Attack mitigation in the 2nd Act)
- Be especially protective of your Patron Librarian during the 2nd Act. Don't concede a Checkmate.
- When it happens, as long as you've protected your King, you'll be fine

How to revert Library of Ruina to beta and install the mod:

This mod is only compatible with the BETA version of Library of Ruina. You can revert to beta LoR by:
1) Backing up your save file (Basically, back up everything inside AppData/LocalLow/Project Moon/LibraryOfRuina)
2) Right click on Library of Ruina in your Steam Library, and go to Properties
3) Select "BETAS" on the left and side of the pop-up window
4) In the drop-down list below "Select the beta you would like to opt into:", select "1.1.0.5b1 - Old Build"
5) Wait for the game to do a bit of file updating
6) Run the BaseMod Updater (a mod that can also be found on Nexus) once, just to be safe.
7) If you do not have a backup save file for Beta, you can grab the save file from this link, which is post-true ending, and all base game content available. You can then apply this save by deleting everything inside the directory mentioned in step 1, and then extracting the files downloaded from the link above to the same directory.
8) Afterwards, business as usual. Download the mod from this Nexus page and extract it to (Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Library Of Ruina\LibraryOfRuina_Data\BaseMods)
9) Run the game from Steam. When prompted to choose between "Play Library of Ruina" and "LoR with Mods", be sure to choose "Play Library of Ruina". You should then be able to see that BaseMod for beta is applied, and see the unknown reception icon in Impuritas Civitatis.

(Warning, if you have a BaseMod version for Workshop, as in, BBE, or Workshop Basemod, unsubscribe from them temporarily. I know this is a hassle, that's why I give my sincerest thanks to anyone who tries out this mod and provides feedback)

Fixing common bugs upon reverting game version:

- Move all mod files from "Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\1256670" so somewhere else temporarily
- Check if "Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Library Of Ruina\LibraryOfRuina_Data\BaseMods" still contain any mods that are meant to be compatible with the WORKSHOP version of BaseMod, then also move them out temporarily.

What happens if this mod continues development?

- I am in need of artists to handle character sprites, card arts, and a singular CG to go along with it. I am willing to pay commissioning price, should an artist be willing to join development. If you're an artist who can replicate the game's art style well and has an interest in the mod (or simply need money), you can contact me on Discord at Macrosis#6649, I would greatly appreciate your help in this matter.
- The mod will then be ported to Workshop after completion, which will be my top priority. If afterwards, a completed version for BaseMod is requested, I'll try to accommodate as well.

Personal Notes:

I apologize for the complete lack of communication on Nexus the past few months. I wanted to make more modded content for Library of Ruina, but a series of unfortunate events happened. During the period of time when I was active in the modding community, I was carrying out a gap year before college. Patchwork Echelon was developed near the end of my gap year, as the final mod I'll develop for Library of Ruina. However, then came the introduction of Workshop, not only making it especially difficult to port my old mods and effectively ruining all my work beforehand (due to specific quirks of the new system making it troublesome to overwrite base-game content), but also dumping more work upon the already in progress Patchwork Echelon. It would've taken me significant time to fix all my old work for it to work with the new system... Time that I no longer have access to, now that I've started college abroad on the other side of the world from where I lived all my life. I was planning to simply finish Patchwork Echelon to give the community one last mod, but then bad things happened in quick suggestion. The artist I paid to develop art for Patchwork Echelon broke her hand, my old laptop broke down while I was abroad, and many other incidents that would do no one any good mentioning here (it's not petty drama or anything, despite how I phrased it, but real-life problems). I've pretty much lost all motivation to continue modding LoR at that point, and was determined to focus on my college work and leave everything behind. The idea of modding LoR was so unappealing to me that even after my artist recovered, I couldn't bring myself to motivate her to do the work I paid her for, despite being the project leader. Ultimately, a few months back, I dismissed my artist and shut down the project.

Now, I'm at a much better point in life. Summer is coming. College work and results has been going really well, giving me an indication that I can set some time aside for some personal projects. And when my playtester reached back to me a few days ago, yelling at me to finish the mod, I just figured that I should finish a project for once in my life. However, having been detached from the modding community for so long, and with the mod being in the state that it is (only viable for BaseMod), I was wondering if the community would still be willing to play it anymore, and if it's something worth saving. I did pour a lot of effort and love into Patchwork Echelon, it was a mod for the people, not for myself. It was a shame that it ended the way it did, but maybe I went around everything with the wrong approach. I was incredibly reluctant to release anything that's not the complete version of itself to the world, but maybe that's exactly what I need to gain traction for things to move forward. Thank you for reading my long ramble, and I hope you enjoy the mod.
