Awesome mod! I noticed an issue when using a controller though. When the little selection indicator pops up when you try to select something in the UI with the D-pad, the entire screen gets dimmed.
I'm sorry to bother you, but I have the exact same issue, even though I just installed everything, meaning, ReShade and the mod is up-to-date. Is there any setting I am missing in particular?
Hi, There is no setting, the fix I included regarding this issue is always active.
I had another look and it seems to hold, so I'm not sure why this would occur again in your case. Do you have any details that could help me reproduce this?
I tried Steam Input enabled and disabled, but it made no difference. I tried older GPU drivers, also nothing. The game is running Ultra settings at 1440p, borderless windowed and medium brightness. I tried ACES and RenoDX tone mapping. TL;DR: I fiddled with a lot of settings, to no avail. Wish, I could give you something more useful than this. But I have no idea where to look.
Just to make sure, are you using the latest build from Nexus? Github snapshot is currently a bit behind. Also for clarity purpose, here's a picture of the issue, only occured when using gamepad (again it is now fixed):
Since you said, the version on Nexus is newer, I downloaded it again, and now it works. I have no clue, how. I downloaded it here to begin with. I'll try to pay attention though, if something might have changed. Glad it works as intended now. Thank you so much, for trying to figure this out with me.
This is something I can't test (no VRR current setup). I've had a couple similar reports for other RenoDX mods, and I wasn't yet able to identify why VRR seems to break on some computers.
Two things I can suggest: - if you've got some overlays, try to disable them (or close background apps for testing purpose, most commonly RTSS or Nvidia App but not only). Overlays are known to possibly interfere with mods. - try the "Swapchain Tweaks" addon available in optional files here, it should be placed along renodx-lastepoch.addon64 (by default in game's folder).
I tried your suggestions, but unfortunately, they didn't work. I disabled the Nvidia overlay and RTSS, installed the addon, closed all background apps, and ran only Last Epoch—but nothing changed.
While running some tests, I noticed strange behavior in the game. Even without ReShade or your mod installed, G-Sync does not work if the game is launched with HDR enabled on the monitor. However, if I start the game with SDR enabled, G-Sync works as expected. Interestingly, if I enable HDR after the game has already started in SDR mode, G-Sync continues to function properly.
When the mod is installed, G-Sync does not activate regardless of what I try. Also, G-Sync behaves unusually with Last Epoch. In most games I've played, G-Sync only engages when the game window is focused—alt-tabbing out causes the system to revert to a fixed refresh rate, and refocus re-engages G-Sync (assuming it's set to work only in fullscreen mode). But in Last Epoch, when G-Sync is working, it stays active even when I alt-tab, switch desktops, etc. This behavior is very different from what I’ve experienced in other games.
I also tried Special K just to see if it would make G-Sync + HDR work, but no lucky either, when game launches with HDR on, without any mod, it will have the "Composed: Flip" presentation model, which does not support G-Sync, but disabling HDR starts with "Independent Flip" and G-Sync works correctly. There seems to be something wrong with this game, usually Special K fixes all those things but not for this one.
Thanks for the details, this seems to be different from the previous VRR-related reports I've had. I was able to find a couple recent posts regarding G-Sync issues in Last Epoch, seemingly unrelated to RenoDX.
Recent Nvidia drivers had an unusual amount of bugs. Things seem better with latest 576.02 version (and following hotfix), so I would try to clean install this if not already done.
Else I can only guess it may be related to some in-game setting (vsync, FPS limiters), drivers or monitor setting. Ultimately may also be something introduced with recent Last Epoch update. I'll keep an eye out for similar reports and follow up if I get any more information.
I tried different driver versions, and overall I'm not having much issues in any other games, only Last Epoch, nothing seems to make it work unfortunately, I created a bug report in their forums, although I don't expect much, if I find something new I'll share here as well.
Yes. The below is a forum post from the official LE forum, discussing when EHG bans for third-party tools. It’s only when they offer a gameplay and competitive advantage. Long history of posts on Reshade use, dating back years. You can also search Reshade on this sub and you’ll find many, many posts dating back years.
Hey, Thanks for the report. A few other players and I have been able to use this after the patch. Could something else be causing the crash? Usually some overlay/background application like Nvidia App or RTSS (RivaTuner Stats).
Ohhhh I'm so dumb, I had the game on FullScreen, my apologies. That being said, when in Borderless, the game is SUPER saturated and dark (maybe high HDR?); but the screenshots look fine, so I can't upload an image of what I'm seeing when playing. Do you know what could be causing this?
Aw glad the crash is solved! I don't know about the odd visuals, maybe make sure HDR is enabled in Windows (Win+Alt+B shortcut by default).
Mod can also be used without HDR, in which case Peak, Game and UI Brightness should be set to 80. Gamma Correction should also likely be disabled as handled by monitor in SDR, unless monitor is set to SRGB mode.
Thanks will have a look. Any specific part of UI I should look at?
IIRC latest change last month was an update of some UI shaders due to game updating engine. I might have missed something then, will have a look.
That said, keep in mind gamma correction affects both render and UI here, and should be enabled unless 2.2 eotf is applied another way (icm profile, SDR monitor, Lilium's BFF shader...).
Is there any possible way to prevent it from changing the UI or have the UI have some other setting to counteract it? Part of the issue may be im using an alienware oled that I've learned slightly crushes blacks already so the UI (particularly the inventory screen) is just a bit too dark.
Inventory is missing UI Brightness I think, you can move slider and check if background is affected. If not, then it's at SDR default (80 nits) which would be why it's dark. Thanks, will fix this in next build.
For some reason Nexusmods quarantined it. For now, you can get the file by going to https://github.com/clshortfuse/renodx/wiki/Mods and click on the snapshot button for last epoch.

Thanks for letting me know.
Had a look already, will be fixed in incoming mod update.
Edit: should be fixed

I was able to upload latest version without triggering any false positive, download should also be available here now.
My GPU usage is too high and my CPU is low.
I need this mod. Please help.
